Jason's 1992 G-Limited
Well, I scrapped the turbo in my avatar, and I bought a new shell to do up. This car used to hoon around in Hamilton a few years ago. Used to be red, but was painted silver with a black roof (Yes, it's EssDub's old car). I bought it for $400, but it needs a compliance, cert, and a new engine.
Pictures:
After attacking the interior and putting the turbo bits in it:
Engine is going to be a hybrid, meaning a Gen 2 N/A Block with turbo oil squirters, ST202 head with Gen 2 N/A cams and adjustable cam gears. I plan to make a custom intake manifold and complete exhaust system from stainless steel. I'm still deciding whether I should use a standard fuel rail for the break-in, or fab up a custom rail and engine bay based surge tank with aftermarket FPR. I recently bought a set of 7M GTE injectors so that I can use the standard turbo ECU with it, as I will be adding a SC14 supercharger to it after the engine's broken in. The primary purpose of this build is drivability and handling, with power being a bonus.

Re: Jason's 1992 G-Limited
Here's a rundown of what I'm doing:
Engine rebuild, consisting of:
ST202 head, Gen 2 NA cams, turbo adjustable cam gears.
Turbo head gasket, turbo crank, rods and pistons.
NA block with turbo oil squirters.
Turbo flywheel, turbo clutch, NA plate to suit.
Gen 3 S54 gearbox.
Turbo fuel pump, 7M-GTE 440cc injectors, probably standard fuel rail for now.
Standard turbo loom, with standard turbo computer. Voltage switch for the supercharger, basically it turns the supercharger on when the load increases.
Suspension:
New wheel bearings, ball joints, rack ends and tie-rod ends.
Standard struts with B&G lowering springs.
New seal kits for the calipers.
Body:
No mods, except for repaint in the future.
Interior:
Turbo dash with custom door cards with component speakers, cd head unit.

Keep the oil cooler even better get a bigger one
Oil temps in my 20V sit at 110 cursing @ 100Kmh
up to and over 130 C on the track .
that's with the standard 2L inter warmer.
temps were off the gauge with no cooling.

Looks like you have your work cut out for you. Will be nice to follow your progress.
If you have or can get a ST205 A2W IC it will help keep detonation in check and engine temps down. '2nutter' has a similiar set-up and would be happy to advise on the challenges you have ahead.
BTW I like the colour combo.

I remember that car when Graham first got it.
I also remember wrapping it up in clear pallet wrap with a cardboard kit, aka the bean machine

Re: Jason's 1992 G-Limited
Dropped the head off at the engine shop today, it's getting some round taken off the intake port, some coolant channels machined in, reshim the exhaust buckets (intake was within tolerance), and checked for flatness. I'll check up next week for the verdict.

Re: Jason's 1992 G-Limited
I was sick of waiting for the socket set i wanted, so I bought a similar one for the same price. Dropped the engine on Saturday, and on Sunday I took the struts out to replace the springs. Also took the hubs and brakes off, brakes will get new seals, and swapped the discs onto the turbo hubs, which I had to bend the guard back to make the bigger rear discs fit. Turns out the struts are rebuildable Toyota units, to my surprise. Super stiff too, had trouble just trying to push it in . Also took the caster arms off, ready for the adjustable ones off the turbo to go on. I'm also going to replace the steering tie-rod ends as the inners are stuffed.

Re: Jason's 1992 G-Limited
Too right, hopefully the only set I will buy . Got the head back, $291 dollars later I have a (nearly) brand new head. All the valve seats still seal, reshimmed the exhaust cam because the gap was too big, and a nice flat head surface. I'll have to take some pic's of it to show what I did. The nice chaps also gave me new exhaust studs too .

Re: Jason's 1992 G-Limited
Pictures of my gen 3 NA head.
This shot has my gen 2 NA cams in it:
I had the round bit where the injector sits made flat:
This shot show the bits that needed removing to fit it to a Gen 2 block:
And with the Gen 2 turbo head gasket on it:
Took my flywheel in today and had it measured, it's on it's tolerance limit, so I will be regrinding both mains and bigends.

Re: Jason's 1992 G-Limited
Finally making some progress, fitted the turbo loom into the body with a minor rewire for the speedo to work. The hubs are at an automotive workshop getting new wheel bearings, and I just bought (scored) a gen 3 S54 gearbox for $200.
