Re: MR2 boss kit
I bought a boss kit, and found it didn't have a hole for the horn connector which doubles as the indicator switch off. I used some pliers and cut and bent a hole, which means I got to keep my indicator switch off. Downside is the horn doesn't work, so I wired it to a button where you find your fog lights. This will also be an issue to you if yours isn't NZ New (I believe), in which case you have to get a momo boss kit.
Edit: I thought gen 2s started in 92?

Re: MR2 boss kit
The term gen 2 is ambiguous, it can mean the car type (SW20), or the engine gen (1990-1993), or the car gen (1992-1993). If it's 1991, then I'm 99.9% sure it's a Gen 1 SW20. I would recommend a MOMO bosskit because it's a direct swap, I picked one up for $60 off trademe a couple of years ago.

Re: MR2 boss kit
If it's a 1991 then its a gen 1, mark 2 (sw20) mr2.
http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 916968.htm
This is like the one I got. Not going to fit in most circumstances, however like I said, I cut and made it work, so I kept my indicator auto stop function but had to change my horn to a different location. Otherwise you'll have to be forking out more for a momo, which is probably want you want to do. Unsure where to get these locally new. Possibly SCA
Yes fair, however we're not talking about anything to do with the engine, and this is posted in the sw20 part of the forum. He may of meant he has a MARK 2 mr2 (an sw20) as apposed to a gen 2 mark 2.JasonFriday13 wrote:The term gen 2 is ambiguous, it can mean the car type (SW20), or the engine gen (1990-1993), or the car gen (1992-1993). Re: MR2 boss kit
PROBLEMS!
So after getting my boss kit and steering wheel sorted, i removed the factory wheel, Screw under the horn was rounded, go figure! so had to get a socket on it. anyway, There is a massive black plastic plug sticking out, its a 3 pronged connector but the car only uses 1 for the horn. Boss kit does not go on, and the fine people at Griffiths just shrug and give up, tells me my car is obviously weird and not what i say it is.
Anyone got any ideas, i don't like batting and soldering, want to make sure i get it done properly.
Was given a refund at least.
Anyone got an SAAS boss kit that fit straight on? Would really love a part number.

This is basically what you're after, it's American, but I don't see why it won't fit any SW20: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Momo-Steering-W ... 6f&vxp=mtr

Re: MR2 boss kit
SUCCESS!
I will have an update for you in the next few days. Found a boss kit that works however it is slightly cheaper and you can tell. I will do a write up in my project thread in the next few days.
My thread - http://mr2.org.nz/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=11469
For anyone who cant wait,
Who:
Scarles
86 Patiki Rd
Rosebank
Auckland
What:
Nardi Boss Kit
SCR BOS0022
Price:
$34.77 Kit
$7.00 AKL courier
$6.27 GST
$48.04 TOTAL
So the only problem is you need to make your own Ground connection, I will be doing this by Soldering a connection to the inside of the Boss. Will let you know how it goes in my project thread. Thank you all for your help and hope this helps you guys out.
Barark.

Re: MR2 boss kit
Nice to hear you found a suitable boss kit Viv.
Reuban might correct me, dunno, but I thought your SW was a gen 1, judging by the rear suspension?
Not that it matters as long as you end up enjoying it.
