Looking to buy Enkei wheel

Post by Ben »

I would have posted in parts section but I am sure noone would have a used set. I have bought a pair of enkei TFR from summitracing, and they have arrived with no problems. However in order to avoid paying duty I bought one front wheel and one rear wheel. Now I have ordered the same, a new front and rear, but they say they are out of stock and discontinued; but a different colour is still available. I have tried enquiring at fitment industries but they havent replied to my emails so I assume selling a half set of wheels isn't worth their time. I tried beaurepairs NZ and they said they can't get them, but if they could it would be double the price. I looked at AUS suppliers amd they are about $200 more expensive per wheel also. Does anyone have any suggestion where I should be shopping to complete my set?
Im after one 516-780-6535 ZP and one 516-790-6540 ZP
Thanks

Maybe try Speed Science or Moonlight Racing, the former sells Enkei wheels pretty good.

Moonlight will bring them in direct from Japan

I'll try them tomorrow. Hopefully they've still got someone working since we're back in level 3
Thanks for the tip I hadn't heard of Speed Science

Alex from Moonlight Racing is in Australia anyway but he's always available to email. Just trying to expand the business over there too. Still NZ based.

That's unfortunate about the wheels. Getting parts here is always expensive!

Speed Science is doing a great deal for me on the remaining rear wheel I need, but by just my luck I seem to have purchased the last 17x8 +35 TFR in any finish from any supplier! Im enquiring at a few more places, including moonlight to see if there are any to be had from japan. Seems most vendors in the states ship wheels straight from Enkei's own international warehouse. Hopefully something turns up soon.

Im planning on using 215 40 tyres up front and 245 40s in the rear, will 17x8 +40 offset fit? I have cobra low springs which are pretty close to late model oe height as far as I'm aware. It is going to be a headache to get this last 17x8 +35 TFR and they make another wheel that looks good (the TS5) but the offset is 5mm away from ideal. Not keen on spacers.

17x8+40 front or rear? They will fit not but you start getting closer to the front strut with that width and offset. I run 8+37 and I measured 8mm clearance with max OE camber of about 1 degree or so. So it will fit.

That will be for the front. Ive got 9inch +40 rear and looking at different options. There's that fromt wheel which is only 8+40. Some of the racing type wheels they sell can be had in 8+35 or even 8+33. Would +33 be better for the front? Or is it insignificant?

35 or 33 will be fine with 215. If you plan to go coilovers you'll need 30 or a spacer which will be certified with the coilovers anyway.

I've got 17x8 + 35 in my fronts with stock struts. No fitment issues. Fits like a glove honestly.

I have rolled guards. If you don't, +35 is mint. Otherwise, a +33 would be excellent as well.

I just test fitted the front wheel, a 17x8 +35, and it looks very close to the suspension strut. Maybe 7 - 10mm. Is this going to be okay after fitting a 215 40 tyre?

It's going to be fine. The 215/40 has some stretch on it so the wheel is the closest part to the strut. They tyre sits fully inside the wheel lip. I have 8mm clear to my wheel, +37 offset.

Awesome thanks for the reassurance. Any advice on which lug nuts to get?

Anything not aluminium and with the correct angle. The stock nuts are shank nuts which will not work on these wheels. You need a conical set.
Muteki SR48 nuts are good. But beware the coloured nuts is just a coating that will come off as soon as you tighten them. Black is fine. Other finishes might be OK but blue definitely isn't. They also have lock nuts if needed.
