SW20 Windscreen Removal and Rust Repair

Hi Folks

Just wondering if anyone has had dealings with pulling an SW20 windscreen out at home and dealing with various rust issues around the windscreen?

Hi - I had one that was just held in place with some really sticky rubber tape (bought as a project). Be very careful removing it - mine broke with the smallest of pressure. Use a knife to cut the rubber around the edges and underneath. Take your time and be really gentle.

That said, Novus in Levin came around and replaced it, including a new seal for about $450 (I think).

Yep, careful is an understatement. I tried removing one off my parts car about a month ago and it broke as well.

Also agree that Novus provide a replacement for around 450$

If you're removing the rust yourself, use a wire wheel. You may have to sand by hand too. A good rust neutralising product like brunox is then applied after cleaning it with a wax and grease remover, followed by an epoxy primer. Any bad pitting and you could fill that in with body filler perhaps.

Hopefully there aren't any holes.

Get someone to help you and use a piece of fishing nylon/braid/thin/piano wire to cut the sealant, one of you inside and one outside, sawing your way around. Tie to nylon/braid to a bolt at each end to give you something to hold on to.

A 'G" string is the piano wire to use
