Camry e153

Post by Stoffa »

Hi Everyone,

I’m new to the forum, I’ve gone down a V6 Mr2 rabbit hole and wanting to build a midlife crisis car, road legal with the intention of tracking it.

Still looking for the right car to start.
I’ve done a bit of research around transmissions and know the basics of the differences.

Can anyone tell me if a e153 from a Camry will work in a sw20?

I thought the Camry gearbox was a e151 and needed the shifter thing swapped and bored out and an e153 version used.

Hopefully my photos work but what do you make of this?

It is an E153 but has the wrong centre section for the shift lever setup as you have pointed out. If you can swap that around or find an MR2 E153 then you will be sweet.
