MR-S (MR2 Spyder) leather seats/covers/upholstery

Several people have asked me about my leather seats and I promised I'd post here for everyone's reference...

I had them made in Singapore by a company called Auto-Image. I can recommend them for their customer service and the product (and I'm a fussy customer  ).
https://www.facebook.com/Auto-Image-Pte ... 515875908/

They can make any colour and material combo you desire. Mine are genuine leather on the seating area and PU leather on the back. The red bits are perforated.
It's a non-slippery leather and can in that regard be compared to cloth covers, i.e. no sliding on the seat when you take corners.
Cost me SGD 700.
I picked them up during one of my travels so no shipping or customs charges. :D
The upholsterer who fitted them commented positively on the quality and price. Can't remember what the fitting cost. You could DIY but there is some sawing involved (after removing the plastic rail-clips from the original covers).

I got the door card inserts at the same time.

COOL!
Just what I wanted as my cloth seats are quite worn. The door cards just finish it off. I have seen these up close and they are as good as they look.
Now the problem is : Do I get theses or the correct wheels for my car first?
Bugger, what a hard decision.

True.
White/red/black is the fastest possible combo.
Ever.

I’m sold.
Looks like you’ve replaced the steering wheel too. Any advice there? I’m looking at doing mine.

The steering wheel in the original pic is actually OEM. In the meantime I have fitted an ebay diy leather cover, as in the pic here. Got the tip from Kevin ("nivek" on the forum).

Regards the seat covers, you can also ask "MikeP" as he got his covers from the same place. Not sure if he had them fitted yet. Mike?

looks great. Your stitching is better than mine :) I glad you found one with gear shift! (I forgot you have SMT)

Well, actually... I stuffed up a bit...
First, I didn't realize they made a cover that's precut for the SMT wheel.
Then, I thought no problemo I'll trim the leather myself - but cut off a bit too much material :?

Looks really good Ivor. As far as the seat covers go I havnt had them fitted yet as the new roof was the first priority and also getting the AW back on the road.I always find that my wallet is proportional to my desires.

Now I have the Aw back on the road and the new top on the Spyder the seat covers are next on the list to have fitted.

It is however Speedway racing season so maybe a few weeks yet

I might do the steering wheel though as I can do it myself.Watch this space.

@psyguy,

How did you fit the wheel cover? Did you have to stitch it yourself?

I want to replace the Toyota logo in the center of mine, it's all scratched up. Did you do yours? It looks way newer.

This thread has been so awesome to read. Can't wait to get mine done.

Yes, you need to stitch the steering wheel cover yourself (or give it to an upholsterer). Took me a bit of practice to decide on the stitch pattern I wanted, but they give you enough thread to do so. Maybe an hour of work plus however long it takes you to figure out what needs to happen... :?

I still need to replace the steering wheel logo. In fact it's more a matter of sticking something on top rather than replacing, as the logo can't be easily removed, I don't think (but I'm not sure).
I got a "screaming chicken" decal to match what I have on the wheels.

 where did you find that? Does it fit?
That’s perfect for the red/black interior of the black ones.
