BOP RUN TO OHOPE

On September 14 we met at Te Puke KFC ( three cars in all).  It appears some people don't like getting their tyres wet. Incidentally, we had fine weather most of the way.

We did a visit to Maketu before heading to Whakatane and Ohope where we settled into a nice Cafe' for a lovely lunch and chat. Me being me, I used their nice new loo. Very nice.

We then made a loop south toward Opotiki before heading north through Taneatua, Kawerau and around the lakes to Rotorua.

On the way we came across a one-way bridge shared with a railway line. Before this the only ones we had come across were in the South Island. So there you are South Islanders, we have them too.  Under this bridge was a fast running muddy river.

All in all, a lovely scenic drive over new ground and great company thanks to Shirley, Kevin and Karen.

Oh, before signing off, my Mr2 was nice and warm in the garage and I was passenger with Rex in his MR Blue ( AW11).
