STOLEN CARS

Post by mickeyduck »

I am going to sticky this thread as a heads-up so everyone on this forum can help find stolen cars. Even if they turn up in bits on Trademe or at some wrecker's.

I'll start by announcing the theft of an AW11 as listed here: http://mr2.org.nz/phpbb3/viewtopic.php? ... 9&start=14" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

AW11 rego EBN111 Stolen after one in the morning on 26 April 2014 from Grafton, Auckland.

Please look carefully at the pics on the Rides thread (rims etc) and read up on what the car is about (parts, mods) then post here if you stumble upon anything.

Or PM the car's owner, SkweekyEvil

Let's see if we can help Jonathan get his AW back. Or track down the jerks that might be ripping it apart for sale as bits on Trademe etc.

Thanks guys. 8)

Just found these, anyone used them? How exactly do they work? Easily hide one under the carpet of your car, somewhere in the frunk, inside the crankcase? But seriously, cheap GPS tracking perhaps

These kind of gizmos are useless here Olaf. As it says at the bottom of the page: "TrackR's Crowd GPS network will help you find it. When another user of the TrackR app comes within 100ft range of your lost item, you will receive a GPS update of where your item is."

They rely on other people having the same app on their phones, being near your lost gizmo. That's how they are located. Not GPS but a very weak signal from the gizmo being picked up by someone else's phone, the location then bounced thru the cellular network to your phone. Nice idea if you are in NY and there are thousands of bods around you with the app on their phones...

Not a lot of use here eh. Unless there are thousands of bods with the app on their phones...
