OUR MR2 videos

Post by mickeyduck »

Not to be confused with everyone else's videos...

This thread is for OUR MR2 videos. Ones that we have shot featuring our MR2's (including each others' cars of course).

Why?

Well back in the day a bunch of club folk got together and shot some video then assembled it into this, our current Club promotional video.

It's pretty well done - so can we top it? :?:

I'm thinking it'd be a lot of fun if everyone shoots wee snippets of video about their MR2 activities and posts them here on this thread. Track time / shining it up / a spanner session / a cruise in the boonies / a BBQ... Whatever takes your fancy, whatever is part of life with an MR2. Cos that's what this club is all about isn't it?

If we can get enough cool clips together maybe we can assemble something to demonstrate exactly that - the buzz of the MR2 and the different joys it can bring to us as owners. Driving / showing / modding / tracking our cars - it's all part of the buzz and the reason we own them.

So use your imagination and your GoPro / phone / handicam / drone and let's see what you got.

Right then just a couple of rules:

1) No driving like an idiot for the sake of footage.
I'm sure no-one here is as stupid as some of the loons you can find on youtube...

2) Please upload vids to youtube and then post the link here (or embed it if you can figure out how).

3) Please keep videos no more than one minute long.
We're looking for snippets that we can stitch together into a short feature film later.
So if you shoot 5 minutes of video don't post it here. Suss out the best bit and post only that.
If you look at our current promo vid you'll see it's made up of many short segments stitched together. Works well.

I would like to encourage everyone to offer feedback on videos posted here, as that will help us pick out the best bits later.

OK so after you've edited your video and uploaded the juiciest wee slice of it to youtube, here's how you can embed it here:

First ensure the privacy settings allow others to see the video on youtube.
"Public" or "Unlisted" are ok.

Screen Shot 2017-06-15 at 9.49.54 pm.png (95.17 KiB) Viewed 9296 times
Copy the video's link from youtube.

Screen Shot 2017-06-15 at 9.50.53 pm.png (106.8 KiB) Viewed 9296 times
Paste it into the edit window of a post on this thread.

Screen Shot 2017-06-15 at 9.52.08 pm.png (10.68 KiB) Viewed 9296 times
Delete the URL but leave the ID of the video.
This is the only part that's a bit tricky as you need to look carefully at the link to figure it out.

Screen Shot 2017-06-15 at 9.52.40 pm.png (8.73 KiB) Viewed 9296 times
Select the ID so it's highlighted, then hit the "youtube-embed" button that's above the edit area.
It should end up looking like it does in this screenshot:

Screen Shot 2017-06-15 at 9.54.31 pm.png (54.76 KiB) Viewed 9296 times
With a little luck you now have a video looking at you right here on this thread.

Ok so I need some serious practice with using a phone to shoot video, but hey the idea's there, right? I'll try again later.
So whatcha got folks? Can't be hard to beat my sad little effort... :P

Wow.. that brings back some memories... I recall making that video with Mark (Mint)..we actually all went out for a filming day in the Waiuku area!
I must try and get out for a run again with you guys.. so much on lately!

I've made a few videos for http://www.ClubLotus.co.nz and if you want some tips.. i would suggest finding some royalty free music on youtube to use. Find some music around 3 mins.. try and make the cuts in time with the music for more dramatic effect.

Here is a recent short 1 min promo I made a couple of months ago.

There is plenty of free software out there to edit with, but I used the subscription version of Director Suite https://www.cyberlink.com/products/dire ... en_NZ.html
I would be happy to edit for you, but just putting my house on the market, so won't available to start for a few months. But the offer is there is you need help :-)

I look forward to seeing all the clips on here :-)

Cheers,
Rich

I'll have to start taking a bit more video's. Normally only have photos of the stuff we get up to.
There must be heaps of footage from the skid pad day (even if it was 4 years ago)
Like the below, from about 25 seconds in for 15ish seconds.

Reason: Corrected the video embed. ONLY use the ID of the video, not the entire URL. =)

Nice! Keep it coming guys.

Ross, it'd be great to see a clip like that but with the camera at the side of the strip at the 400 metre mark. I need to sort an adapter so I can put the GoPro on my little tripod...

I've just started using Davinci Resolve 12.5. Free to use and seems pretty powerful.

I've just downloaded Davinci Resolve 12.5 to give it a go. It's available for Windows, Mac and Linux. Nice of them to offer their previous version for free too! Thanks for posting the info Garnett. :D

On another related tangent I sussed out how to mount my GoPro on the roof of the AW yesterday so I can get some cool shots of following cars etc. Also ordered a heap of mounting bits n bobs through AliExpress because $60 gets you about as much as you'd get for maybe $300 at Noel Lemming's. 8)
