Sending Wheels - reccomendations?

Post by thorns »

Could anyone recommend a freight/courier for sending a set of used wheels from Queenstown to Christchurch?

Do they need to be Palletised, or can they just be sent as separate items?

I’ve used Mainfreight several times for wheels and found them to be excellent. Drop them off st the local depot and they will place on pallet and wrap up. Use thier on line calculator for costs, booking, printing delivery docs, emailing buyer and tracking item. Will cost around $200 but worth the service.

Ideally need somewhere locally so the seller doesnt need to travel too far.

$200 seems a big rip off for wheels over such a short distance. I'm looking at sending some out over a similar distance and it's more like $70 for a set of 4 15s but they are only go to weigh $25kg max.

Ah yes. Interisland gets expensive but half way across an island is far less. I thouhg you might have been talking about Christchurch to Cromwell type thing.

Got it sorted with Toll, approx $100 +/- depending on actual weight when they get there to the depot, I estimated 80kgs for 4x wheels/tyres.
Queenstown seems a tricky spot as most main freight companies don't seem to have depots there, so no doubt paying the Queentown tax as well in that price.

TradeMe book a courier works out quite good. Even between islands four wheels no tyres in separate boxes was ~$130ish. Used Fastway, don’t do a cash payment at the depot, it’s like $50 per 10kg.
