MR2s swapped for MX5 - Enough to make you cry

Post by MIKEP »

https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cultur ... -trade-in/

As far as weird trade-in stories go, this has got to be one of the strangest. Earlier this week, Coad Toyota of Cape Girardeau, Missouri took in a total of five first-generation MR2s of varying specs and mileage from a single owner at once. Talk about unexpected.

Brotherton says the former owner replaced his collection with a single 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata with 10,000 miles on the clock

Good, those mr2s can go to those who will actually appreciate them.

Not sure where you get that logic Omkar. If I could get the money here for Aw11 they get over there id make a living selling them. They are worth huge money in the States
don't forget the duty on Jap cars there that was applied as new.
Heres a link to prove my point

I'm going to agree with Omkar on this one. They sell for dirt cheap on FB. Autolist tends to be more collectible examples

Lol Autolist has the nice ones. Go look at the hundreds of sub 2k USD AW's on Craigslist or Facebook.

Or maybe the previous owner is getting older and wants something that they can drive without care or worry.

Sorry lads, not going to join the circle jerk of judgement.

According to the gospel that is FB comments, that's exactly what happened. Paying dealership prices means it's more likely that the new owners will be enthusiasts or someone who works at the Toyota dealership.

Would you rather he sold each one then spent the money on the ND and thus effectively come to the same end?

It's possible if he held on to them that his kids (if any) wouldn't respect them as much and just let them sit or rot or both.
