Happy Birthday MR2-35 years

Post by MIKEP »

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE MR2

On the 2nd May 1984 the first MR2 rolled off the production line. The unique little car immediately impressed the motoring critics of the day. (In fact it's believed a Lotus engineer helped Toyota with the suspension and handling, while Toyota assisted Lotus with achieving consistent quality on the production line). Toyota's mid-engined affordable sports car was only seriously rivalled by the X1/9, though Japanese reliability was surely an advantage.

MR2 number00001 was White with White /Black interior

1984 MR2 Released :

Commonly referred to as the pre-facelift model. Usually had black bumpers, spoiler and wing mirrors. AW11 and AW10 models produced. Release in New Zealand with slightly different rear tail lights and most had sunroofs.

:D So go out and give your AW a great big hug and wish it Happy Birthday . Maybe even buy it a gift !!

So guys lets celebrate 35 years of the MR2.

The video takes a look at a group of MR2 drivers, and attempts to explain what it is about the car that is destined to make it a future classic. Scroll down to see Petrolicious examine the MR2 Connection.

Technically my car wasn't "born" for another 5 years... (well maybe 4?)
But I did put it's bumper back on today. Happy Birthday!!

My AW scored a driver the year I scored my wife.

Got the feeling I just might be hooked on 2's for life.

My SW well it hit the road the year they formed the Club.

And while I'm breathing chances are I'll still have an aye-dub.

If you don't get it maybe you should go on back to school?

Cos we all know that MR2's are totally way cool.

100+ MR2OCNZ runs and counting... When going hard, good rubber's your best protection against unwanted accidents. Buy good tyres!
When you're nearing the end of the drag-strip and you have no 'chute, you may as well keep your foot to the floor... Live life. There ain't no second pass.
