Self Isolation Car Mods

Post by Benckj »

Looks like my place of work may go into self isolation mode for those people who can partially work from home. More than likely I’ll be one of the lucky few. Thinking ahead I won’t be able to work a whole day on work stuff so probably have to pick up a few wrenches. What to do???

MR2 just got a new set of shoes in rear and passed a WOF. Might putter away with my Shadowdash gauge display. Other jobs to possibly do;

1/ Rewire WB so it stays on with turbo timer.
2/ calibrate new MAP sensor to match EBC.
3/ Autotune VE table to 18psi.
4/ Connect Droid TPMS to 7” dash display.

I need inspiration. Where are others going to do?

I was told today that I needed to stay away from work due to me taking immuno suppressants starting from tomorrow. Bit of a pain but the business reckons, I should be able to manage the sites from home as all the systems are in place.

Looks like this will give me more opportunity to work on the project :D

Quietly hoping for isolation. So much time for my cars! (I would have to isolate from my family too of course! For their own good   )
The downside is Countdown seem to be limiting our alcohol orders. Can't work on cars without beer.....

First thing I did was a grocery run and loaded up on a couple cartons of beer. All go for the next week to start a project. After that on old bottle of whiskey may do the trick.

I hope you are all good, with any luck most of you have either ways to work from home, or work will keep you paid, with maybe some help from the government. My messages are always open, so drop me one if ever you need it.

For me, I just need to re-organise my whole house so I can work more efficiently.. it's a mess at the moment. Otherwise I'll just keep pushing through my list of things to do on all 3 of my cars, including getting APEXED Gen 4'ed...

once i find out about work, i will be sorting a list for things to do on my SWeet MR2. Might start with putting alternator back in, then giving it a Complete Service front to middle haha.
Then onto Body work, might have a lot of time on my hands yet.

Finally got around to putting LEDs in my cluster replacing my burn out bulbs.

Can't yet tell if the old bulbs (Under 60km/h and fuel gauge didn't light up) were the problem, or just actually the cluster is broken. I have a feeling they still aren't lighting up, may need to get a new cluster.

Got a list coming up, mainly including the rocker cover gasket (It was 'Supposed' to arrive on Wednesday), as it leaks an immense amount of oil. Also thicker 15W-40 is going in to replace the leaky 5W-30.

Omori boost gauge install eventually now that I got some time off.

Spark isn't closing retail stores though :( So I think I'll have to go back to work on Friday.

Well I don't know if this self isolation will be as fun as I had dreamed... I still have to try and keep a business afloat, staff paid and look after the family. Pretty sure I will have more time than usual though. So I made sure one of my guys collected my bellhousing from Kaspa for me. So now I can rebuild my box, marry the box and engine and reinstall and wire up the coil packs. And we got more beer today! :D
Hopefully we all get through this quickly and then I can get a tune and get cranking on some runs and catch up with you all again!

I am in isolation with MRs Jameson and Mr Glen fiddich. Can't even go to Pakiri as they have closed the campground. All the bloody car shows are cancelled and so is Speedway so unless Netflix gets some new movies I might have to tidy the garage
