Spotted this lovely yellow (secretly my fav SW20 colour) on Google maps when searching for a car yard in Christchurch.

Not often you see a yellow one in good shape. The paint always seems to be off colour and have a clear coat rash.

I'd say it's been repainted due to the side stripe and lower panels being body colour. Revision 2 NA manual with wheels that I can't remember the name of...

SSR Integral A2 are the genuines, these could be the Advanti Viper copies though.

They have SSR on the spoke so look genuine to me.

Spotted this beaut yesterday. I'm a bit rusty with my MR2 knowledge but isn't this special being a 1996?

Yes, it’s one of the only years of the two tone silver sonic. Looks to be in very good shape.

REV4 and 5 got this colour like Jim says. This one being a REV4 built in July 1996 only 1 month after the REV3-4 change over. The 2CE paint code is nice and also note the black side stripes where all other paint codes had it body matched. Too bad it's an auto.

It seems the front lights have been swapped over to OEM clears. It's nice to see the MR2 sticker on the rear window. One thing I find interesting is that Toyota removed all traces of the TOYOTA branding off the rear of these cars for REV3+ in Japan. Note how it only has G-LIMITED on the left and no TOYOTA on the right, and no, this is not debadged.

Another thing I find interesting is that Toyota put the oval symbol in the centre of the boot panel on SW20s they sold everywhere but Japan and also the word Toyota is on the left and the model on the right but in Japan they put Toyota on the right and the model name on the left. This also applies to cars like the Corolla.

Now I'm just rambling... Where are the Mods when you need them?

Anyone else see things on this car which don't add up? Would think for the asking price it would be a pristine example.

It is 2021 and that is a rare model. Prices for these cars have gone way up. Keep in mind, it's an asking price, not a sale price. Still, people are putting down similar money for some MR2 here. Although they also have a 2JZ-GE JZA80 Supra for $48,000 and another really rough JZA80 for $28,000.

I'd say probably low ks+5mt+tidy+relatively stock+straight body+maybe genuine wheels+beams gives the higher value.

Our SWs arent getting any younger or more common, like a lot of Japanese sports cars of the era (and those from the 70s and 80s) scarcity and nostalgia are helping prices go up
