it's like gambling, you might win in the short term, but over a long enough time period, the house always wins.

My mate bought a SW20 for it's gearbox, had a blown bottom end. He paid $300. He made his money back after I bought the gearbox for my car. So far he has made over 3 grand off it.

Yeah I only buy the cheapest junk I can. In fact of about 23 cars in 6 years I've only bought about 4 working ones lol. The rest were junkers I fixed or parted. My current beater is a toyota windom I got for 600 and spent 100 getting going again using a $90 pick a part gearbox from a scepter. I love it has a towball and I tow my racecar and projects with it. My V6 mr2 was a $600 beater that some kid wrecked, I think it has a marginally better life now. I've had 2 free AW11 given to me and my mk1.5 was $100 from south auckland with no keys and a run bearing but came with spares. The wonders of talking to people.
