Touch Screen Headunit - GPS, TPMS, OBD, reverse camera

Post by the government »

Whats the best GPS touch screen head units out atm? I found some really old ones online, but not up on the play.

I'd like a unit that can do GPS, TPMS, OBD, Reverse Camera etc (DVD/blu ray would be nice too)

Do these exist? They come stock on some cars from japan, so im sure you can get aftermarket ones?

Might pay to look into a HU through somewhere like 'alliexpress'. Generally the GPS will be average, wrong frequency for radio in NZ and never saw incorporated TPMS.

Try looking for an Outlander HU as they work well once converted to English and have NZ maps installed.

Somtheing like unit listed below but no TPMS. Around $200NZD delivered via DHL which is an excellent price for a double DIN and all the features but don't expect it to be a great HU. Things like radio FX, PAL compatability and Maps can be a hassle to get working correctly.

For TPMS I'd recomend the one below. I use it between all my cars and it works very well.

Or then there's the easy option, just put GPS into TradeMe search under Car Stereos & auctions like this will come up. My intial search came up with 230 results & there are quite a few $1 reserves.

Maybe the next step is a tablet that you build into the dash & load it with the appropriate apps?

OBDII won't be any use until you go 2GR-FE, AFAIK the 3vz ecus never had OBDII.

Won't have the OBDII on 3sge or 3sgte unless you go with an aftermarket computer. If that's the case then you won't run with OBD anyway as this is with OEM ECU's.

The link provided show the Mitsi HU I referenced in the earlier post. Same unit I have in my Pajero which is very good (GPS, system diganostics, rear camera, Fosgate sound, etc). No TPMS in mine although I think the Outlander has. I'd be interested to know what you do find in the market. Would be nice to have a single HU control a multitude of devices. Might as well add radar detector to the list!

Nope, ecu either has it or it doesnt. You could buy an aftermarket ecu that does it, but thats several grand.

Ok cool this is looking like quite a project.

I think i'll be building my own unit and then hooking into a touch screen monitor, in which case the linked unit ($250nzd landed) looks to be the best way to go at this stage.

A new ECU was always on the plan, but a little down the track - watch this space.

I was hoping to buy one already done, but building it myself looks like the only option.

Thanks for the help

I thought the plan was 2gr-fe? Aftermarket ecu on the 2GR is going to cost you quite a bit, 4 cams with vvt-i and dbw-throttle is more than most low/mid-range ECUs can deal with. I'd stick with the factory ECU if you can (I haven't read much about the details of 2gr conversions.) It'll save you a big chunk of change if you can.

2GR-FE engines also have electronic throttles, so that's something else added to the aftermarket ecu accessories.

What Is The Difference Between A Verilog Task And A Verilog Function?

Answer : The following rules distinguish tasks from functions:

A function shall execute in one simulation time unit; a task can contain time-controlling statements.
A function cannot enable a task; a task can enable other tasks or functions.
A function shall have at least one input type argument and shall not have an output or input type argument a task can have zero or more arguments of any type.
A function shall return a single value; a task shall not return a value.
