OBD2 ABS Bleeder to borrow?
Has anyone in Wellington got an OBD2 ABS bleeder I can borrow?
The Demio has decided after 90,000km to have the ABS light come up and the code says the module has no communication so I got another unit to put in but it has no way to manually bleed it.
Unless someone knows how to bleed an ABS unit that's been swapped out and can assist with that. Bleeding the brakes, easy, just the ABS unit, I have not done before and I want to make it as easy as possible.

Re: OBD2 ABS Bleeder to borrow?
Not sure if this tip will help as had similar issue on my Pajero. Solution was to lock up the brakes on gravel several times and this bled the ABS air back into MC. Even using the Misti MUT tool didn't bleed all the air out.

Re: OBD2 ABS Bleeder to borrow?
Thanks for the tip. I did read that that was a thing but good to hear from your experience that it works. Makes sense as it will active the pump system.
Now, to find a gravel road near my house.... And that's if the ABS unit is the actual fault.

Re: OBD2 ABS Bleeder to borrow?
Replaced the ABS unit, light went out when still parked in the garage, but 50m down the road it came back, that means it was not the module like the computer told me it was. Now I'm thinking wheel speed sensor, but the computer is useless and won't give me an exact code for which one.
I cleaned the magnetic rings on the rear as they had a lot of build up on them, collecting magnetic filings from the brake pads maybe? But the fronts, I can't tell what type of ring it is. A normal metal ring with teeth like the MR2 or a magnetic ring. It's buried inside the knuckle and even removing the ABS sensor, it's impossible to see what it is or if it needed cleaned.
Might try get 4 replacement wheel sensors and install them.

Re: OBD2 ABS Bleeder to borrow?
Headed out to PAP to grab a set of wheel speed sensors. Systematically replaced them one by one and drove the car in between replacing. Front right, nothing, front left, nothing, then the rear are connected as a pair so replaced them. Drove it down the road, 50m in and the light goes out! Success!!!
I did test the rear sensors and was getting some bad results but as I had never tested ABS sensors before I wasn't sure what I was getting was true as both left and right were doing the same thing. I didn't test the front sensors as the plug was harder to get at, but in hindsight I should have. Then I would have seen these probably gave me the test results I was looking for. Now I can go bleed the actuator and sort it out. The brakes work as they did before, a slightly soft pedal but it was like that before all this trouble. A bit more money spent than I wanted to but at least it wasn't over $4k like my mate had to spend on his Mitsubishi Outlander. It now has Motul RBF600/TRD brake fluid haha.

Nice
