As well as parts the engine work begins (finally)

Bit of a clean up and a lick engine enamel. I pick up gaskets and frost plugs Tuesday. Start assembly of the multi layer steel head gaskets, ARP studs and heads on Thursday. More pictures after then

So just a note, 3VZ heads are the same. One is just backwards. Man for a moment there I though I had two of the same side heads machined!!

Minor progress update:
Cams in and torqued up. The spring loaded gear is a pain if you don't realise what you need to do before taking it out! Whoops... (learning) New camshaft seals. And heater line plate made up and installed.

Also cleaned up oil and water pumps. Sanded and painted brackets. And picked up new powder coated parts.... Sorry no pictures of those parts as yet. Soon.... :D

I'm guessing you used the 3000GT/GTO head stud kit? Which ones need a little trimming to fit?

Yes, but they are bottom end studs. I have the part number somewhere if you want it? Apparently you just shave 3mm off the top of the ones under the gears. But mine seemed fine. I did it anyway as I didnt want to find out they did rub after torquing down the cam caps.

Do you find the wall-mounted engine stand makes it easier to work on things Paul?

I imagine it will just wear in a bit on the surfaces.
