Re: Boost Gauge Install
Okay, so thats the best spot as it will remove the fuel cut for when I feel the need for more boost. So best to install a boost controller at the same time then.
Does the nipple at the BPS need capping, or does it just instead read atmospheric pressure hence it wont cut the fuel as its never reading high pressures?

I always just left mine open to the air. The BPS needs to remain electrically connected though.

Re: Boost Gauge Install
Just be warned by removing the line to MAP sensor disables the engine protection for overboost. This protection is for problems that can occur under a range of situations including boost control issues. I would not install a boost gauge off this line and use something directly on plenum.

Can I put a hole through this spare grommet and the material behind it to run the vacuum hose through the firewall?

Re: Boost Gauge Install
Got it through and have plumbed it in like this.
Look okay? I removed the one way valve. I may disconnect hose once I have a boost controller as suggested by Al.
Not enough line to make to the front console though so progress done for today.

It's not a one way valve, it's a filter. If it was a one way valve the MAP sensor wouldn't work.thorns wrote:I removed the one way valve.

Re: Boost Gauge Install
Who knew finding vacuum line would be so challenging.
Been to two repcos and a supercheap only to be told they will have to order it in for me. Frustrating

Re: Boost Gauge Install
Probably best to buy it online then. 3mm is probably all you need. These guys are are good, I've bought some decent bolts though them.

Re: Boost Gauge Install
Its more the timing with xmas is a pain for shipping it to me.
Have a mate who thinks he has a metre or so spare from one he did years ago, which may just be enough to finish it off fingers crossed.

Does reducing the line size from 4mm down to 3mm part way along affect the pressure reading?GDII wrote:Probably best to buy it online then. 3mm is probably all you need. These guys are are good, I've bought some decent bolts though them.

Re: Boost Gauge Install
I don't have much turbo experience but it seems a quick google search on multiple websites shows 1/8 or 3mm ID hose is what is used. Going from 4mm to 3mm shouldn't affect it. Having the 4mm closer to the engine is probably the best option if you have to go this way.
