I used the first posts on this thread here for a good reference when searching for wheels, has all the common sizes and offsets telling you how far from flush etc.

Ended up with 17x8 and 17x9 both +38 on mine, not lowered yet so cant comment on rubbing, but would expect no issues.

Re: Wheel Fitment
Enkei have some really good options for the MR2. 18" is too large in my opinion.
An example would be 17x7.5+38 and 17x8.5+40 should be close to ideal for a performing wheel (not pure looks, stance etc).
For tyres- front 215 40 17, rear 235 40 17 or 245 are both ideal for 8.5" rim. 245 can rub depending on the offset.

Re: Wheel Fitment
I run these same wheels on a similar looking car with 245/40/r17 on the rear on cobra lowering springs and have had no problems with rubbing, I didn't even have to roll the lip.Mrman wrote:I have 17x8 35 offset up front and 17x9 35 rear, I had to roll the rear guards to stop tyres rubbing. But have flush fitment I’m running advanti stage wheels
