Hey where is the boost gauge vacuum line in the engine bay?
I've recently had my engine rebuilt + back together - and now the gauge doesn't seem to work when the engine is making boost.
If you know -Does anyone have a photo of this to show me? It might be plugged into the wrong place I think.
Cheers

Rear right of the engine bay next to the Diagnostics plug. It has a vacuum hose and an electrical plug with 3 wires. If it's unplugged it won't show on the stock gauge.

Re: Stock boost gauge vacuum line
Thanks that is exactly what I needed to know. I'll check the plug and vacuum line.
For some reason when you start the car the boost gauge shows boost and then drops to nothing.
It could be that they replaced the vacuum line and the new hose is too small or possibly it has some crud in it or the connector isn't seated correctly.

Don't they default to zero when off then when the car starts it pulls vacuum? I can't remember as I've not owned a turbo.

yeah once it starts vacuum is pulled and it wont move so it doesnt do any sort of sweep check like aftermarket ones do. i think mine sometimes pops up on startup though but i dont really pay attention to itGDII wrote:Don't they default to zero when off then when the car starts it pulls vacuum? Yes, 0 when off, vacuum at idle. It is a pretty useless gauge but luckily this is available https://primedriven.com/collections/gau ... or-cluster

Is that gauge easy to install? I may get one as I need to do the capacitors for my speedo anyway so its coming out/off.

Re: Stock boost gauge vacuum line
I think it involves a bit of trimming of the white plastic mounting and possibly the black plastic trim so the needle doesn't hit it as it moves.
The 45mm Omori gauge works too but hard to find now.
This shows how to install.

Re: Stock boost gauge vacuum line
It's pretty easy to install, you really don't have to trim much to fit it. There's a great guide floating around on the net somewhere if you search omori and mr2. The stock gauge sucks and doesn't even have a PSI figure.
