Source of steering column covers (clamshells)?

Post by tw2 »

Just installed my new steering wheel. I knew the covers were very fragile and was prepared to go very slowly but I couldn't imagine how delicate they were. I could literally put my finger through the plastic in places and the screw mounts pushed through with very little force. Anyway I know toyota discontinued them. I have emailed mr2heaven to see if they will do a RHD batch (they have indicated they might in the future).

Anyone know of anywhere else to get them?
Anyone else needing them?

Fixed! They did a pretty good job and I very carefully reassembled it.

I am interested in how they differ left and right hand drive. MR2 heaven said that despite mentioning a possible RHD run of these on their website that they actually wouldn't be doing that as it costs USD 8000 to make the mould.

They both have stalks out each side... It might be close enough. If only Toyota would sell its old moulds for all this stuff.
