Turbo flutter problem! No Stu-tu-tu!!
G'day all,
I am a bit confused with my sw20 3sgte,
there is no BOV, the port is blocked properly,
The intercooler pipes are new so no chance of any leak, turbo makes healthy boost.
Whenever I take off the foot I just hear a woosh noise and no flutter (the stu tu tu ).
The boost goes up fine, I ve tried in all the gears.
Car running stock turbo with 11psi.
What m I missing here???

Not all 3SGTE engines will make that sound. The configuration of the intake will dictate that.
This car has no BOV and doesn't really make the sound you expect every time.

Have you got a pod filter or OEM?
You can get a sequential BOV like this one...

Is that because your BOV is set too tight?

Haha, yeah I'll probably get tired of it, when I can actually drive it! But I believe these are fairly adjustable so you can adjust one valve out and get rid of that.

Re: Turbo flutter problem! No Stu-tu-tu!!
I had an oem turbo that had a bov delete and can confirm the flutter will be very quiet due to the maf. Its never going to dose hard until the maf is gone to be honest. I currently have an oem turbo been machined to fit a slightly larger compressor wheel, billet, 3inch intake, big side mount intercooler and stainless charge pipes and it doesnt dose even if i rev it neutral. on boost it flutters decent but not crazy loud. After a Maf delete im sure it will have a lot more volume

Each engine type and configuration will create a different sound. And the GEN4 in the video doesn't have the MAF so it will be louder.
Yeah it does have that dual valve thingy. I've got something else planned where I'll have 3 options of sound. But only just plans at this point.

Re: Turbo flutter problem! No Stu-tu-tu!!
Unfortunately there are not a lot of options with a gen 2 engine. You either go standalone ecu and switch to a map sensor or you do a full gen 3 3sgte electronics/ecu conversion which is a lot more trouble than its worth if all you are after is flutterMr2zilla wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 7:16 pmcheers that helped a lot! `what options are there to replace maf with other stuff??Jabeo wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 5:45 pmI had an oem turbo that had a bov delete and can confirm the flutter will be very quiet due to the maf.
