Heater pipe repair

Post by tw2 »

Do you guys think this will be ok? I used 19mm ID silicon 45 degree joiners (aeroflow) with ear clamps (the hardline is approx 20mm). I couldn't figure out a way to brace it more than it is. There is a little bit of wiggle to the upper pipes when pushing them around. I needed to lube the hoses to get them on so I definitely don't expect any leaking.

I like the repair. If they slip on with difficultly then there is probably no need for a flare. Good effort!

I'm with Phil on this looks good if they aren't rubbing on anything and the hose can handle heat and pressure them job sorted.

A little edgy, every guy wants one,
some guys can't handle them,
and if you throw a little alcohol in them they'll rock your world.

Thanks guys. I was concerned about the movement in the pipes up near the engine bay but with the tank in again they are completely firm. It must be resting right up against them.

I probably would have double clamped each side using a spring clamp for additional security. What you did looks decent enough but without a flared end it is difficult to keep a permanent seal.
