Spruce-up

Post by Benckj »

Giving the ol girl some Spring time TLC. Making good use of lockdown madeness.
Oil, filters. plugs and decent check of dizzy rotor and essential organs. Nice to see all is well so far without any surprises. Managed to buff up paint work a tad and use some high tech products to keep the bee poop off. Looking very nice now with more pics to follow.

Need to get the vacuum in there!

What high tech products did you use? What you use for buffing, machine, product?

In the end I used a Meguires deep cleaning product applied by hand and then one of their ceramic sealants. I’ll see if I can get a pic of actual products.

Exterior clean was just one part of the spruce up. Removed dizzy cap today and inspected inside. It was dry as a bone and in decent shape. Used a bit of emery cloth on contact points, sprayed clean and reinstalled. Pulled all the plugs and they were near perfect showing proper heat range. Changed them all same with new coppers NGK BR6E gapped to 0,028”.

Sometimes when doing maintenance jobs like this it’s what you don’t find is what’s pleasing. I like getting the reassurance that internally is all is well with no hidden surprises (oil in plug wells, one cylinder burning different than others, plug gap opening, etc).

From AliExpress for about $3. Works great and since not permanently mounted can just move to wherever I like. Slides between seat and tunnel and great to hold phone or other bits when travelling.

This is what I used. Probably comparable or better products around that do same thing. Got to love those ‘nanos’!

It does look good with the pearl in the paint!

There are definitely better products out there for the professional. I also depends on how you use the products and pads and towels.

If you want to reduce minor scratching or 'love marks' then don't touch the paint unless you are cleaning it. They are called love marks because the owner wants to clean off the dirt but with no lubrication they just grind the dust and dirt into the paint and leave marks behind. Even washing it you can easily damage the paint. Drying it is another time you can damage the paint. The less you touch the better!
