Hydra Nemesis EMS Question?

Post by Benckj »

Looks like I won an auction on another EMS. Not really sure what I have here as I run a MS PNP on my gen 3.
Could have a play with this one as well or save for using on a gen 2 SW20. Tell me what I have as not sure about the KORacing piggyback or 2.6 version software?

Probably one of the most user unfriendly ECUs available. Especially pre 2.7 version. You will need a tuner that knows what they are doing otherwise you will be paying for them to learn as they tune. They were popular in the MR2 community in the US 20 years ago because RickyB sold/made them.

Just fit a Haltech/Link/Motec and be done with it.

Modern times call for modern ECUs. You by a new one you get free software that updates for free, adds new features for free and you can contact a person who is up with the times and who actually works in the company that makes the ECUs.

Figured it was a bit old and unfriendly. Bought for a song so not really worried if it doesn't get used. Had a read through the manual and its fairly comphrensive with closed loop O2 modes, autotuning, duel fuel maps, boost & water injection. Looks the KORacing piggyback is for PNP use on the 3sgte.

It's an SSD that's been compressed into a disk for use in a 7,200rpm centrifuge. I think it's the future!

If it was cheap it certainly would be a good little MR2 garage ornament. I can imagine in the future car museums with ‘80s and ‘90s Japanese performance cars would like these nostalgic pieces for show.

From what I’ve found out it’s around 2010 version. That’s quite a bit newer than the 90’s stock ECU SW20’s are running around with. It’s also programmable so that’s another huge advantage over stock. And the best thing, my ol trusty Win XP machine can talk to it! It even has one of those cup holder sliding compartments.
