Headlight won't go high up enough

Post by GlanzaAtHeart »

Hi there team,

Facing a new issue I can't find too much info about on the internet...

My driver's side headlight won't sit up high enough. However, I only noticed this because one day when i turned the car off, closed, the headlight sat too high up.

Now the headlight is at the highest adjustment point, and it still a good 50-100mm lower than the passenger side. You can't even see the housing properly.

Would anyone know what causes this issue?

It could be the limit switch?

Is that on the motor itself? That would make sense and it's hitting an odd limit.

Could also be the relay possibly? But I doubt this since it operates anyway.

Just saw this as I was searching about a very similar problem - my Yellow SW20 came in pieces and when I fitted both front headlight assemblies they both sat too high. Yesterday I was trying to figure out why and ended up unbolting one of them and moved it about as I tried to see if it was caught up on anything. I couldn't see anything and rebolted it in - and it now sits flush. No idea what I did but I will do the same on the other side and see if I can get that seated properly too.

Did you end up figuring yours out?

I haven't. I bought a replacement motor and headlight unit.

I'll replace it tomorrow (been lazy I guess), now that I have some more time with lockdown.

I'll update tomorrow

Update today.

Solved by changing the headlight. After a fair amount of fitting work as the headlight wouldn't fit. Then adjusted it. And it was fine.
