Just wondering what I can't swap from my 91 wreck to a 93. I don't know what year they changed the subframe and tie rods.
Are the strut housings the same for all sw20's?
All lower arms with bushes in them?
Lower ball joints?
Strut top mounts?
What suspension parts can I swap from a 91 to 93?

Re: What suspension parts can I swap from a 91 to 93?
December 91 was when the subframe and rear arms changed along with the front caster arms and brackets.
All strut housings fit but there are differences that I can cover if you are interested further.
Bushes are the same except for the front caster arms when they changed. Also the front swaybar bushes changed as did the mounting brackets and the chassis.
Steering arms are different as I mentioned on the other forum.

Thanks Phill. I am always interested to learn more but only if you have a spare moment. Funnily enough the previous owner replaced only the front caster arm bushes when it failed the wof. Good to know the other bushes can be transferred over. I will transplant the whiteline swaybars over and the entire strut assemblies with the konis and eibachs. I should probably make a new build thread.GDII wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 9:57 pmDecember 91 was when the subframe and rear arms changed along with the front caster arms and brackets.

That makes it easier.
I assume the swaybars came with 2 sets of front bushes? U think the 92+ are taller to suit the brackets.
Did you buy a set of my swaybar reinforcement plates? If so, the need a slight modification as the bolt/stud spacing on the 92+ chassis is different by about 5mm.

Yes I kept the spare swaybar bushes so I can dig them out. Good to know about the plates. I do have them for my 91. That is annoying. I will have to get them drilled out.GDII wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 9:49 amThat makes it easier.

I am actually finding a lot of tiny annoying changes. The wiper motor seems to be slightly longer and doesn't line up with one of the mounting holes. I swapped the whole shift assembly over but the gear stick is now 10 degrees to the left instead of straight up so I will have to work out what part they changed and make a hybrid.

Yeah. I designed them off my 1990 so didn't know the spacing change was there. I knew about the stud.
The gear shift cables changed a little as did the bell crank on the NA gearbox. But I'm not sure of they changed the cables between years instead of between S54 and E153. Part numbers might shed a light light on that.

Take a look here. 3 part numbers. The right hand side cable at the lever changed 3 times.
