My SW20 has developed a weird wee problem (most MR2 forums out there deal with lights not turning ON - whereas I have exactly the opposite issue
) - the lights turn ON (including auxiliary/positioning) and pop up. But when I turn the light stalk to the OFF position the auxiliary/positioning go off and the pop up lights retract - but they stay ON (not the greatest thing for battery life)I thought simple - swap the headlight relay with a new one - I did but that didn't fix it. Pulling the relay out pops the lights up and turns them off (good workaround) until the next time I turn them back on.
The auxiliaries though quite happily turn on and off.
I had a look at all the other relays (in the frunk/driver footwell) as well as the fog light controller (I have no fog lights) and pop up controller and pulling all of these out does not turn the headlights off either.
If I disconnect the stalk from the junction box under the steering wheel - lights turn OFF but the high-beam indicator on the cluster turns on. I also noticed the lights on cabin beeping thing doesn't beep - unless the stalk in in the ON position (so behaving normally) though disconnecting that didn't help either.
I've been trying to decode the wiring manuals - thought the headlights seem quite simply connected to the HL relay that I replaced. I also ordered a replacement stalk which I haven't received just yet ... though I'm not 100% sure this is the issue.
I have a sneaky feeling it may be some hidden relay somewhere maybe ...
Has anyone had this type of a problem ? any pointers or advice would be much appreciated
