Hi all,
I am looking at doing a rebuild on my 1990 3S-GE engine (new NZ), but obviously OEM kits are few and far between.
Just a 'stupid' question. Has anyone risked getting a rebuild kit through AliBaba (https://www.aliexpress.com/i/33023557772.html)? If so, are they useless/worthless, partly useable, or surprisingly good given the price?
My intention is just to get the car back well roadworthy (after 305,000 km) rather than looking for stellar performance.
Thanks all,
Murray

Hey Murray,
Check out https://www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/0411274230
It is expensive, but at least it is OEM.

Re: Replacement gasket set for 3S-GE rebuild
I would go with the 'partly usable' determination. Some of gaskets I'd consider lightweight and not as robust as OEM based on single products I've purchased for other vehicles. It can be quite hit and miss. Not alot of $$ to risk if you decide to try but could face a huge headache if a part fails in service.Murray_Miskelly wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 5:39 pmHi all,

Have you confirmed from Toyota that gasket sets no longer available?
