Might just be the weight of the turbo/stuff to make the turbo work etc.tw2 wrote:There is a significant weight difference between turbo and NA?
But I have read that there was a revision in the suspension, apparently to reduce the snap oversteer. No actual evidence though.

It would work but the struts are oil type in gen 1 and went to Bilstien gas in gen 4. Belive the spring rates are also different even though older models would work.
If you want to keep with OEM I'd get a new set on Bilsteins from Toyota. I bought them and it only cost about $115 per corner including the whole strut housing not just the insert. If you need springs I have a spare set of Gen4's which I could sell you cheap.

They would work but most likely the struts are in not very good shape. Monroes are in the same leauge as KYB's and not high quality. Better choice would be to buy some OEM Blisteins for $460 and re-use your springs. This won't lower your ride though.

$460 is cheap because Toyota sells all consumable parts regardless of year at the same price. So you would need to look at the later model years for the strut to ensure you get the bset one. I had my man at Toyota do some digging and he verified that they were Bilstein blacks before he ordered. Incedently the LH ones listed for $115 each but the RH side as $2,500. He jiggled the numbers and sold them all for $115/each.
No luck with the lowering springs? Were those the RSR ones I sent you?
