Power Steering Failure

Post by Seanja »

Hi all,

yesterday my power steering intermittently stopped working.

* No warning light
* The fluid levels are OK
* I pulled the motor, cleaned out the copper dust & contacts with contact cleaner
*Assembled it in the correct orientation/polarity
* went full lock left & right to clear any air bubbles

I then test drove it for 20 minutes without issue.

Started the car today, took a few seconds for the PS to kick in, seemed OK for 5 minutes then stopped working again. It seemed to come back into life just when I got home, and I think (not 100% sure) I could hear the motor intermittently working - kind of zip....zip... zip... if you know what I mean.

Would be grateful to know if anyone else has experienced this, and where I should look next.

Thanks,

Sean
