Good work. How are you planning on making the rear structural - were you going to make a frame? And how are you going to join the fibreglass rear piece to the steel body?

Could run a big diffuser underneath so flick up more rocks at spectators

Ha ha AWesome! With the rear end that lifts up it's starting to look a bit like one of them 600hp not-really-AW's but who gives a (bleep) cos they were wicked things for group B that Toymota made way back...

I'd suggest you fill that back end fi-glass thing (nice) with expanding polystyrene foam so if you ever lose it and go screaming backwards into an immoveable object it can soak up a bit of the hit... Though you might want to put thin cardboard tubes inside the foam to ensure it can crush on impact else it might be too tough. Would save weight too... Or fill it with bubble-wrap like they do in the V8's sometimes? (so I've been told - makes sense though) Or if you want to get real carried away do a latticework honeycomb thing inside it outta fi-glass, similar to an F1 nose cone...? But that's getting a bit ca-ching... $$$ Bubble wrap would be the best in terms of weight versus impact protection I'd think, and fairly cheap. Hmmm...

This sure looks like a very cool project, one well worth a watch...

Yes i"ll be fabricating some sort of strut brace possibly triangleated down to rear x member. I will glue the panels to the steel with urethane and rivets.

I did think about runnig the exhaust through the boot but i think i"d rather keep the weight lower and i plan on making a reasonable size airbox in that cavity.

Yes it"s losely based on the grp b cars,i"m not to worried about stiffening /adding more crumple zone at the moment,(i havn"t spun on the gravel YET but had a few ood 1s on the seal) hopefully less weight in the rear will help with the penduluum effect but if i need to then i"ll vacuum in some divynicel foam. Havn"t heard of the bubble wrap method even though i used to work for DJR & Stone Brothers racing many years ago.Thanks everyone for all your interest and thoughts.

4/1/13 Inner gaurds well under way, made from kevlar, and fuel flap reasonably sorted.

4/1/13 got caught out with the areolatchs, the pins fall out when mounted verticlly so had to change to 3mm bolts and the alter the inside slightly.

Well loks like im up for a new ecu as pluged a scanner into the std ecu today and no faults which is great but the vvti and extra lift aren"t working and don"t show any faults when unplugged f$#@, (yes purple wire is all sorted) also only actully got 80kw at the wheels so it"s kinda nice to know theres 50% more power to be had

And if it's ready in time maybe you can get some serious tarmac practice on the 17th March and show us all just how she goes?

Will hopefully be using it at Bartons line rallysprint on the 17th of march so will try and get some video.
