Cool, that thing is going to be a beast. A cooler title would be GRW11, just like the Supra code is JZX80 for the JZ engine. Here's a tip, don't mash the gas pedal on your first drive, you might do a 180 spin.

Re: Alex's GRW11
sooo the TODO list:
Get shifter bracket for the gearbox
Modify shifter cable length
Modify front engine mount bracket (didn't release it was going to bolt through the shifter bracket, so just need to relocate a couple of holes)
Build exhaust system
Rebuild boot firewall
Paint engine bay
Build axles (including bearing spacer)
Fab up a new coolant filler neck
Coolant lines
New radiator? (hmmmm)
Fuel lines + FPR setup
Wiring
Relocate accelerator pedal (sits a little high)
Weld reinforcement plates to chassis where engine mount bolt up
Make a new engine lid
Figure out how to do the alternator / water pump belt.
Recalibrate tachometer
Wider rear tyres

Re: Alex's GRW11
After a couple of months battling with the immobiliser - I got the engine firing tonight!
Revised todo list:
Build exhaust system
Rebuild boot firewall
Paint engine bay
Build axles (including bearing spacer)
Fab up a new coolant filler neck
Coolant lines
Wiring (mostly done, just needs tidy up and a few other small bits)
Relocate accelerator pedal (sits a little high)
Weld reinforcement plates to chassis where engine mount bolt up
Make a new engine lid
Figure out how to do the alternator / water pump belt.
Recalibrate tachometer
Wider rear tyres
install mechanial speedo (will probably require the engine to be dropped a little)
Hook hand brake back up
Suspension bushes
New brake setup
Frunk battery setup

Me too. Rocket run has some perfect straights... and it'd fit right in at the venue too.

Re: Alex's GRW11
Woohoo! A historic day in the MR2 universe folks. The first ever road test of an Aurion-V6 powered AW11 in NZ. Perhaps in the world outside of the UK...
And I was there!
Yep, this thing is going to be a BEAST. Torque for Africa, overpowered all to hell. Nice...!
A serious dose of "mu ha ha...!"
I made comment that it's a shame he didn't give it some bling bling paint before fitting it, to which he replied it might be a polish with a tooth brush job. He reckoned it won't be a show car. EH??? Why not??? Don't come much more interesting than this! That led to a discussion about paint jobs - maybe black roof, black bottom bit and red in the middle. That'd look wicked.
Alex had to rig up a temporary extension for the lid latch so he could drive it in the rain - looking at it I reckon an SC engine lid will fit perfectly over the top with the only mod required being a move of the latch. So I hope someone out there has a supercharger lid for Alex at a reasonable price? Cos we really can't leave it like this...
Anyway, Alex had a very (VERY) careful wee drive up and down his dead end street in the rain. So far so good, though there is a bit to do yet. But man am I looking forward to seeing this beast on a run! Or at Hampton's...!!!
Video to come...
