As the airflow goes up though the engine lid, I mounted mine flat just above the chassis rail to keep it up out of harms way as there's no telling when I might take to the gravel at the race track or even do a gravel hill climb or two. The brackets bolt through the cabin firewall.

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday.
My older brother passed away on Wednesday 16th December. So on Thursday I put my sister in the SW and we headed north to be with his family in Russell. On the way up a juddering when planting the boot got worse and worse until finally at Kaiwaka, half way to Russell, the clutch slipped, revs rising but no increase in speed. Turned around and quietly made our way home to park the SW and jump in the 86. So the quartermaster twin plate clutch has died and I'll be looking for a replacement in the new year. Hoping there's something able to take the grunt but perhaps a bit easier on the calf muscle. Cramp if stuck in traffic is no fun at all!
Anyone got a bead on clutches like that? Needs to handle 500hp / 370kw and 370ft-lbs torque. Thanks guys.

The Quartermaster is a twin plate Michael. MRP tell me the Tilton clutches are kinder on the legs than the Quartermaster. I'll have to drop the gearbox and pull the clutch out and see exactly what it is, might take it to MRP for a look.

Sorry, didn't read properly. Compare the spring force of the clutches to know if your pedal will get any softer. Most manufacturers will list both that and the rated torque, although getting spec sheets for higher end clutches gets hardermickeyduck wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 3:53 pmThanks guys.

You may want to go for the hydraulic throw out bearing from MRP, just have a chat with Barry and he should be able to tell you. I have a quarter master in my corolla and it's pretty hefty. Good thing is you already have the flywheel and if you wanted to upgrade to the tilton it should have the same bolt pattern.

Try getting stuck in a traffic jam on the Nor' Western coming home from the 4's N Rotors, on and off the clutch for 20k's in 1st gear... Cramp...!!! But yeah I'll likely just biff a replacement quartermaster back in there... When I finally get the space and the time to rip it apart.

I too did physical work for a living once Paul. Twenty or so years, it kept me fit as mate. Hell I used to be able to do one-arm chin-ups. I've done landscaping, chainsaw work, scaffy work, fencing, worked in shearing gangs and all manner of other stuff too mate. When I was 56kg I could keep pace with guys twice my weight. I once carried a hessian sack chocka full of scaffolding clips up 24 stories, up the stairs, in summer (ASB tower in town). That sack of clips weighed almost as much as me.
Now I've sat on my arse in front of computers for twenty years and it's been catching up with me. As does age. You too may be half as strong and twice the weight in another twenty years or so my friend! Trust me, it happens.

Normal driving is fine. Traffic, (which I am hardly ever in in this car) and queues such as Toyota Fest. Start to get a bit much!

Nice pic of the calf muscle btw. That clutch is clearly doing you wonders!
If you want to even up your appearance be sure to fit some El-Cheapo brake pads so that you need to exert 500 pounds of force in order to stop.
As the AW has no power steering you may just need to fit a Quaife quick steering rack, the smallest possible sports steering wheel and some massively wide tyres and run them at really low pressure. That way your chest and arms will get all pumped like that too.
Your neck should also get a great workout thanks to the combination of monster-motor acceleration and awesome AW cornering ability.
In fact when I think through all the potential offered by your AW I have to agree with you, it certainly does have what it takes to fill the requirements of any training schedule at the gym. Nice...!
P.S. hoping we see you on Sunday for a bit of a skid pan session Mr SKDZEZ...? And maybe we can go watch a few real rockets to give us both a serious grounding in reality regards what "quick" really is...?
