Re: spyderballers work in progress
Love driving it aye. especially the back road to Helensville.
Few mods done today in reparation for pukekohe
First following on from out spoiler testing.
The Ultra Super Rice Go Fast Wing was fitted, slightly to high But fitted she is Mounted possibly a tiny bit to high and the extenders need finishing and painting tomorrow but i'm confident it'll have a good affect on the track.
Unfortunately it does look a little to rice to drive every day lol.
More goodies
Megasquirt 3 with caldina coil on plugs Will be setup to run full sequential injection. have access to a dyno in ngatea which will definitely help with tuning Attending a track day labour weekend. But after that we plan to fully strip every wire from the car and rewire everything we need. My Master computer minded brother (linuxwarrior) is confident we can run the P/S pump off a Arduino microcontroller. so we can do away with alot of the bulky setup toyota uses.

Have you get some decent sized load spreaders inside the boot where the wing mounts are attached? You wouldn't want it going sideways and tearing holes.....

The power steering generally operates under 20km an hour, it usually switches off above this speed anyway.

Re: spyderballers work in progress
car is cleaned and in tiptop track spec for tomorrow.
puke track day
Fitted Cusco (painted) strut braces front and rear. to get the most stiffness out of a strut brace you fit it while the car is jacked up on a jack eg when i did the rear one i jacked it in the middle of the cross member. this allows you to adjust them for max stiffness and some preload for when the car is sitting on the ground.
gave the car a bit of a wax aswell but i need to spend some hours on the paint giving it a good cut/polish as it hasnt been done since its been painted.
In this pic you can see the bottle of high tech go fast juice. was given it as a freebie, Cant hurt to try it
I definitely prefer one tool to many than one tool to less and this is before i packed spare coolant/heater/fuel/vacuum pipe i probably wont need it but if i do its there. would hate for me or someone else to be sidelined for lack of a single pipe or hoesclamp
I'm running semi slicks at the rear so if it rains tomorrow I've got the t1rs as back up.

Re: spyderballers work in progress
Get yourself a big plastic bin - not quite as big as a fishbin to put all your bits and pieces in. Much easier to manage and they don't fall over like a bucket does....

Re: spyderballers work in progress
Great day at the track
Im sure the spoiler had a good effect as the car no longer feels light/fluttery leaving corners. no faults or incident apart from going a little fast into a corner and usiing a bit of the dirt awesome as drag race with a skyline on the front straight felt awesome slowly pulling away from it. then getting blitz by a kitted out 1.8t audi lol
Girlfriend was all set up with her camera and took some awesome pics.
My mate was running with his v6 mr2. went for a ride with him defiantly a different feel than the turbo more on tap power but at lower rpms.

Re: spyderballers work in progress
Picked up some goodies last night with Thelinuxwarrior.
Should make the next track day a bit more comfortable. Just need to polish off the gearbox install when i get a spare moment, then on to fitting these to the car

Re: spyderballers work in progress
Yep it'll be nice to see that beastie back together with a gearbox again Hayden!
Wings definitely do help - though tyres are the bigger part of the equation. But I'll be surprised if that wing doesn't push a dent into your boot lid after a few fast runs, at that height. My AW's one has done... Subtle but they are there.
Your thread has reminded me - need to book with Playday for the Toyota day at Hampton's in May...
Better get my car sorted for then too.

Re: spyderballers work in progress
The silliness continues, Me and LInuxWarrior (mainly Him) sussed out the drivers seat for the track day. Currently road legal errr no. But brackets have been built according to MSNZ standards so once (eventually) we get a cage fitted itll be all go. In the mean time its easy enough to take it out when the car has to be driven on the road.
We were able to use all the original mounting holes so haven't had to make any extra mount points. Seat sits at almost same height as the original perhaps marginally lower, Very happy as it was a mission to clear roof with helmet.

Re: spyderballers work in progress
Should point out that we still need to add washers in case anyone was wondering...
Made from 5mm aluminium with high tensile bolts.
As Hayden said with very minor mods we were able to reuse the original mounting points for the seat.
Things that stop this being legal under lvvta are that the seats are no longer adjustable. Also like many after market seat installs, even if it was on rails (seat too high with helmet) it would still
require a Cert as the seatbelt mounting place has changes. (Seat gone from stressed to unstressed)
Still in half a mind to paint it or not.
Also need to fit a set of EBC YellowStuff Pads we got from Reuban and install the gen3+ calipers.
