You would require a cert for removal of an airbag.
So I guess if it doesn't have a cert it didn't have an airbag...

Just make the cost of a cert worthwhile ... mod away and get everything done under the one cert.mike_m wrote:You would require a cert for removal of an airbag.

Re: Reubans blue blue blue
Update time,
I've since replaced Plugs and leads with TGP goodness,
replaced rear balljoints,
Swapped in the Bilstien shocks from my gen2
INstalled camber bolts all round
New wheel alignment...again
Changed the sump pan as the drain bung thread was stripped (chris told me and supplied the sump), then pulled it back off because it leaked due to a snapped bolt and did it again after drilling and removing the broken 6mm bolt. In the process did two oil changes in as many weeks.
Used fuchs 10w40 semi synth the first time, found the oil pressure was a bit lower than previously (1.8bar at hot idle) used total 10w50 full synthetic the second time and she's back to 2.2bar now. also used TGP oil filter as the Fram one rubs on the oil cooler lines.
and lastly had all four Discs machined and replaced all pads on saturday, where glazed by the end of sundays run. Need better pads.

Re: Reubans blue blue blue
Maybe try some semi-metallic pads if you can bear the noise. I had some on my cefiro - plenty of bite and no glazing. They did however rip the rotor a new one pretty quickly

Re: Reubans blue blue blue
the problem is getting them, no-one seems to make them in the right part numbers anymore. next step up i can find is ebc red or mintex 1144, have to get the 1144's re-bonded on for the front too.
can get ebc yellow as well but not cheap, though still cheaper than off the shelf m1144's

Re: Reubans blue blue blue
Did you bother to bed the pads in properly (around 500kms of driving) first?
If not, its hardly surprising you glazed them soo fast...

Re: Reubans blue blue blue
Bedding for normal driving, sure. Not for slamming anchors repeatedly on a fast drive. I tested this myself with a literally out-of-the-box set of road pads @ Mallala a few months back. Cooked em after one session. Changed back to the EBCs and carried on about my way.

Re: Reubans blue blue blue
Surely you can get TRW pads over there? A full axle's worth for a SW20 Facelift is about AU$80. They're rated to 550deg and have proven themselves well at the track. Would rate them higher than 1144s for the price point.Reuban wrote:the problem is getting them, no-one seems to make them in the right part numbers anymore. next step up i can find is ebc red or mintex 1144, have to get the 1144's re-bonded on for the front too.

Re: Reubans blue blue blue
(hopefully) part numbers? TRW's over here are just repco garbage as far as i know. though for 80 oz i'll just ship them buggers over! been thinking of just going ebc yellows as i cant even find anything heavy duty over here, they are like 190 an end though
