Headers are coming along nicely... Have the flanges cut too

Also, bought two sets of throttle bodies for the ITB's, first set arrived today

And ordered 6 shiny new trumpets that'll look something like this..

Started on the suspension/brakes today, got the new shocks and Teins in the front. Also discovered when putting the new sway bar in that the old end links are bent

Image

Went down to Toyota and got a front caliper seal kit for the new calipers, was pretty reasonable at $56.10

Image

If anyone has some SS Brake lines lying around and/or aftermarket end links that they're willing to part with let me know :)

I've got stock springs and shocks (rears not wofable), full Gen1 Brake set and a front sway bar available if anyone wants them, just PM me

Quite common to bend end links even when running stock suspension. The gen 1's are very skinny but Toyota beefed up the links on the gen 2-3. Still not as strong as the aftermarket ones. I put a set of K-sports on rear and they seem to hold up. Should have strenghtened the strut tabs while you had off as this is another common fail point.

Ended up getting the TwosRus sway bar end links, seem to be much stronger than the stock ones.

Also got the front suspension basically finished and back together, man the Tein springs are low.

In other news, due to time constraints the 2GR has gone and a 3SGTE will take it's place. So if anybody has a Gen 3 or 4 3SGTE motor they are willing to sell let me know :)
I know it's not as exotic as a 2GR, but shit happens

That's a shame. I was really looking forward to hearing those ITBs sing.

Yes, you're not wrong lol

So now.. this is what is happening. Gen 4 3SGTE!

After A LOT of cleaning, painting and checking the motors condition. This is the result!

Looks pretty awesome, especially the cover

Also painted the block up, should be running (And hopefully driving) by the end next week! Still doing all the other things; shocks, bushings, swaybars, brakes, fuel etc

We've got a shiny new inter-cooler system, Tial BOV and the transmission and clutch that was going to be used for the 2GR are going to be used for the 3SGTE too.

Looking good. I need to do the same to my car. Hopefully you get it going soon and can use it again.

Be keen to get some pointers on the wiring and the throttle cable, I will be looking to fit my Gen4 over the school holidays.

How complicated do you expect the wiring will be?

Lovely engine, it's gonna go like a rocket! how many Ks has it done?

Interesting, seems like the 4th gen was used in Caldinas and later GT-four Celicas, but not in the Altezza (which used later gens 3SGE)

Sorry guys, I can't help you on this. Wayne is doing all that, it's way beyond me.

3SGTE is in! Threw fresh oil and an oil filter in it and wen't and bought some Redline MT-90 for the transmission.

And wiring started..

Fuel tank back in and re-connected, new short-shifter installed and ancient pubes removed from the shifter base lol

Gave the sills a good rub down, re-primered and resprayed them black, along with the Rev 3 tail light garnish.
