I think from memory the temp gauge needle didn't move at all - I could be wrong though.GDII wrote:What do mean by not moving when at temperature? The needle should get to half way on the gauge and not move if the cooling system is working properly.

Re: Stag's SW20
More likely a temp sensor issue rather than t-stat. First thing I'd do is check connection and unplug from sensor to see if gauge changes.

Well...the needle did not move at all to be honest.GDII wrote:What do mean by not moving when at temperature? The needle should get to half way on the gauge and not move if the cooling system is working properly.
-Eg. With a trip from Auckland central to Orewa the needle does not move. So temp used to read zero.
After the replacements the issue has been resolved. its been a few days and i am now able to get proper readings. Same trip AKL > Orewa my temp reading is now about half way as expected.

That looks way better!!
What was it that you fixed to make the temperature gauge work again? I was thinking it would be the plug on the senor on the engine that had come off?

Re: Stag's SW20
Its done now! 'New" carpet is in!
This is what i started with...sad. OK! So started by removing the boot and pertol cover release leavers. Once removed this reveals one of the four the bolts keeping the seat inplace. Removed the seat and unbolted the seatbelt, and removed the storage box behind the drivers seat (speaker housing in some models) Then removed the dead pedal. This caused some frustration initially but didnt take too long to remove.
As the dead pedal has two plastic fittings keeping it in-place. These needed to be turned anti-clockwise until it makes a "click" sound. Then a bit of wiggling the dead pedal comes off. From there on it was easy. Removed the remaining trim and center console then onto removing the carpet itself. From here on its install the new carpet and re-install all the bits and trim as you go. its not perfect but its heaps better than the old worn through carpet i had. Got rubber mats in this to prevent any possible carpet damage going forward.

The sensor plug was intact. But i replaced the sensor along with the thermostat as i was unsure of what was the cause. Its all working now after the replacement so i am pleasedGDII wrote:That looks way better!!

Re: Stag's SW20
Just wondering about your temp gauge, did your cooling fan turn on in the middle of long drives?

The sensor that triggers the fans and that which drives the temp gauge are different.Swampy wrote:Just wondering about your temp gauge, did your cooling fan turn on in the middle of long drives?
Fan sensor is in the radiator, temp gauge sensor is in the tee at the back of the block over the trans.
