Robbie, my son has just brought an old 89 corolla gt. What an awesome little car .No rust and still plenty of poke and style . Would love to take it out and give it a drive myself. Will try and get some shots.

I can sell you one if you like. I have one that I haven't used in some time.mickeyduck wrote:I had an Asahi Pentax K1000 once. It was an AWesome camera, loved it. Made the tragic mistake of taking it to sea.

Re: Rocco's red s dub.
Quick photo of the 1989 corolla gt.
Jobs done: replaced dash lights. only 1 was working. Replaced clutch master cylinder and bled lines, got hi brake light working.
Jobs to do:replace front shocks , install oxygen sensor and hunt down a drivers door card. One of the previous owners decided to install a speaker and made a f@#k up of it.
Interior in very tidy condition and nice exhaust note.

Re: Rocco's red s dub.
Haven't done much to the mr2 in the last couple of months. I have replaced the front indicators to clear ones.
Things to do: Upgrade stereo, add amp to power the rear speakers behind seats.[came with two subs]
Possibly add cold air box and snorkel.

Re: Rocco's red s dub.
We drove up the Paraparas .A classic drive up on the friday afternoon, very little traffic and only down to one lane once.. along the route.
On sunday morning around 11.30 am ,we drove to Pipiriki via Raetihi. The last time i was on that road it was all gravel ,well now its all tarsealed .Infact the entire length is sealed ,except for a few sections flood damaged.
It is a fantastic 64km drive, well worth the detour.

Re: Rocco's red s dub.
Last weekend did a really cool road road trip . The round trip starting at Levin at 7am. Had breakfast at Stratford. Onto the forgotten highway. Took around 4hrs sightseeing and stopping at the pub. Came out at Taumaranui, then down to .....
We had a night in Raetihi at the snowy river lodge . Recommended for nights accommodation.
In the morning ,we drove thru to Whanganui via fields track (sealed all the way), which hooks up with highway # 4 { parapara"s}. this route took an hour with another hour to Whanganui. Really worth the detour.
Stopped off at Koitiata beach. Have seen the turn off tons of times and this time made the detour.
Hit Levin around 2pm 700kms later. Made our way home to Wgtn around 3:30pm.
Took the trueno, as the Mr2 needs a warrant . Ran like a dream
t]. Horopito motors. Closes at 4pm and closed on sundays. We got there just after 4pm. I took these shots from the road . Will be back!

Re: Rocco's red s dub.
Part of my coast to coast road trips.Baden and i did the epic Wanganui to Napier [gentle annie].
The trip saw us leave Waitarere Beach at 8am , drove up the Paraparas and by 10.30 we were having breakfast with the skiers at Ohakune.
From there we drove up the road to Horopito Motors [Smash Palace].
We paid $10 each and spent the quickest 2 1/2 hrs of my life. The place is incredible and my photos only touch the surface of this "world heritage site" or so it should be. I was even able to pick up 2 s/s tail pipes for the Trueno in their modern car corner.
From there we embarked on the main reason for the trip...... Gentle Annie. Or the trip from Taihape to Napier . This took us around 2 1/2 to 3 hours .You could do it quicker ,but stopping and photographing is a must in this part of the country.
The road is all sealed and has very little traffic on it ,will it did for us and is truely a great driving experince.
We arrived in Napier around 6pm and booked into the Toad hall backpackers, right in the middle of Town .
2hrs later saw me having a well earned slow roasted lamb shank and a few beers ,watching the All blacks destroy the Aussies. What away to cap off a truely awesome day.
The following day was cloudless, so we decided to drive back along gentle annie in the opposite direction . Either way is good as each other.
Once we hit state highway # 1 .We drove south homeward and turned off at Otara rd, just north of Ohingaiti. A good alternative and a road i hadnt driven before and home before 4pm perfect.
I would rate this trip a must and is easily done in a weekend.
Photos to follow.
