Re: Zimmo's 1991 2GRFE project
Thanks Team, I'm very lucky as the only problem I have is they destroyed one of the two nerves for smell and taste and damaged the other, so cannot smell one side of my nose and food i can hardly taste. But small price to pay as they also said 95% chance I'll not walk again and I can walk and talk and type (i get very tired easy though). Sorry to hear about your cousin GD I'm sure she will beat it!!
They believe my tumour is benign but waiting on the biopsy results.
Anyways I'll go na for now I'm sure with the link G4+ I'll be able to squeeze 200rwkw out of it, will be plenty fast for now.

Re: Zimmo's 1991 2GRFE project
Engine is out again, the heads will be flow tested so I guess I'll find out about if they dont flow above 7500rpm like someone mentioned. All monkeywrench racing gear will be installed so hopefully in a month the engine will all be done.
Also from the bench flow test we will be able to enter that information into computer software along with the engine specs and turbo and predict the engine hp levels and be able to program the Link ecu to perform how I want it to (boost on early as possible and lots of low end torque). Simon from Delta Workshop and BNR Engineering are sorting this out (some of the best guys in the industry).
We are expecting the engine to make an easy 700hp then will turn it down to a dual boost of around 400 and 500hp respectively

You must be feeling better now. If you make those numbers that will be the best treatment available.

Re: Zimmo's 1991 2GRFE project
Engine is stripped, all new seals and gaskets ordered from Toyota (all in country) and all the kit on its way from Monkeywrenchracing USA.
Head is getting flow tested so will post results soon, the purpose of flow testing is so we can tune not for max numbers but for most usable power, I am wanting boost on early and smooth so I get the most torque down low due to the nature of the twisties in NZ. 94.25 pistons were selected so a small overbore is required.
So very soon team (as I understand it) we will have NZ's first 2GRFE built turbo. 700hp+ capable but running dual boost in safer levels, will dyno queen it while tuning to see what we get.

Re: Zimmo's 1991 2GRFE project
Just caught up with this thread again and yeeouch but hey good job you're still with us Dylan!
I'm guessing you're back here in Auckland then? PNG on hold or you staying here do you think?
It's going to be awesome seeing your SW when it's done mate. Will be great for the shows if you're into it and it'll be very interesting on a run too. And on the track...
Just be sure to fit some serious cooling eh. And bloody good tyres. Potenza S001 work very well indeed.

Re: Zimmo's 1991 2GRFE project
Thanks heaps and yes very lucky to be with you all still. I'm in Auckland but will be going back to PNG on the 19th of May... doubt the car will be ready by then though.
Plan is to let the shops who work on it take it to shows while I'm overseas as they seem to think the scene needs different cars like our sw20 and aw11's.
PWR water to air will be installed as well as the water meth.
I have Falken FK452's on it at the moment, if you are saying the Potenza S001's are better then I'll swap them as you are the expert!!

Re: Zimmo's 1991 2GRFE project
Ok so not sure if I mentioned it however have Autospeed Engineering building my engine (www.autospeedengineering.co.nz) has almost finished my Engine build. The reason I picked Royce and his team is his history with successful race engines and with the potential power we will be running through it I didn't want to leave it to my own inexperienced hands or that or a standard mechanic. I will post photos when it is done, hopefully this will be by the end of next week.
Next step is BNR to make the intake and exhaust based of the flow information we did on the heads.

It's a project car, so will never truly be finished!
