Thanks for the info Charlie. I'm not a wet type of guy, really just dry running only. I plan to run to sets of rims, Semi slicks for the track and drags and then on the other set up the Bridgestone adrenlins for the road.mickeyduck wrote:They look like they'd be great in the dry but perhaps not so great in the wet?chief1eye wrote:I'm intially gonna run 17 x 245 Dunlop Direzza 03G on the rear and see how they go.
I put Bridgestone S001 on my SW and found I could lay down 370kw no problem even from a standing start in the wet. Granted they are road and not track tyres so hammering it around Hampton's they won't be quite as good, but they certainly allow the thing to put down the power, wet or dry.
As soon as Isaac's AW has a WOF I'll be looking to get it going again. Can't wait!
Recently I went for a hot lap in a McLaren 650S at Hampton's and that was running Achilles road tyres. They seemed to work pretty well.

Looking good
Are you going to cut a hole to clear the intake manifold? It just looks really high but that could be just the photos

Might clear if you sit the engine low enough. I just had to notch a bit out from the inside layer of my engine lid.mknz wrote:Looking good

Also your oil filler cap maybe an issue. As it sits against the fire wall when you spin this engine around for MR layout. Which makes it hard/impossible to use. I relocated mine to the other cam cover.
(All that said perhaps these are not problems in a SW engine bay??)
Anyway, looking awesome! Can't wait for more pictures!!

Re: Green Hornet
It actually fits in the SW fine. That's just the factory manifold. I've been fine with the oil filler in mine but definitely need to use a funnel.Mr-Paulio wrote:Might clear if you sit the engine low enough. How far away is this from completion? I'm still weighing up SC or TD05 for mine

Re: Green Hornet
Should be close to up and running by the end of next week. Engine is just about ready to put back into car. maybe tomorrow. Then sort out the electric and loom. a few final fabrications around oil return to sump etc, then tune.
Not too far away.

Re: Green Hornet
Next time you talk to Jared can you ask him what a Eaton M90 setup would make?
Also, could you send me the link to the headgaskets and head studs

Sweet it fits in the SW okay!
I was tossing up M90 or turbo myself. I have both sitting in the garage ATM.... But I think I have decided to go turbo. (As much as I wanted to give the impression of "stock" ) The SC will stick out the engine lid on my AW.
Do you have the clearance for a M90 in a SW also?

Jared at Tauranga reckons a M90 will fit. Maybe without the rain cover perhaps. Will have to book a ride in this car once it's finished to decide

Re: Green Hornet
Yep, we are all waiting to see what this set up will produce. Turbo is not too big so Jared reckons it should be at full boost at 2500 rpm. We are not for out and out horsepower but looking for a massive torque curve, with power building and building and building. The dyno will tell the story next week. Initially we will just set the boost low to give about 300 hp until we run everything in.
I'll post up the dyno once we get it done.
It a good discussion on Turbo vs Supercharger. Obviously I think the turbo is the way to go as its more efficient and with this set up I believe at low revs its gonna pack as good as punch as a supercharger.

I had a chat to Jared around the pros and cons of supercharger verse turbo on the 3VZFE. It really comes down to personal preference and what you are wanting to do with the car.
My current thinking is that for a street type car- a supercharger is way cool. Sounds cool and wicked torque down low. For more of a track type car turbo is coming more into the picture. Those long straights that turbo will be winding up and pushing more power out at the top end.

Bit by bit. Getting close to bolting into the car. Hopefully ready for a run to the Regular Car Review meet.
