Okay - spend a few hours on the dyno getting everything tuned in . Very happy with the numbers but its all about how the Power is coming on. Really low down, great torque.
This is how we ended up.

355 Horsepower
408 ftlbs Torque

Nice
your not reeving to hard so engine will last for ever. :-)
Standard cams might be holding a high torque / power back .
sure will be a fun ride .

some guys can't handle them,
and if you throw a little alcohol in them they'll rock your world.

Plenty for now Colin! At the AGM it was sitting on 250HP and 300ftlbs and felt bloody great. Now its 350hp and 400ftlbs, I had to leave early so its still at the dyno workshop so I havent even driven it yet. Should seriuosly boogey. Looking forward to the Clubfest event on 2 June at Hampton Downs and if anyone wants to jump in for a ride to see how it goes, more than welcome.

Very nice power curve. Should make car easy to control, responsive and predictable regardless of speed or gear selection.

Finally gave the car a road test today. Wow! Very impressive. The great thing was that I could put all the power down, just on my Adrenalin 003. Thats the magic of our MR2's all the weigh on top of the wheels. Insanely quick. Bring on a fine day for Clubfest so I can eat some EVO's for Breakfast!

Green Hornet 3VZFE on Weighbridge 1240kgs

Post by chief1eye »

Just put the car over the weighbridge at work to see what the weight of the car is with the V6 3VZFE engine in it. The information I had seen on the internet said that there was probably only 20 to 25 kgs difference in engine weights between this and the 3SGTE. Well the weighbridge pretty much confirmed this as the overall weight of the car with the 3VZFTE is 1240kgs. Info from Wikipedia have the SW20 T-Top at 1310kgs. Mine is minus all the aircon system.

So that puts the power to weight of the Green Hornet at 286hp/ton, compare that to a 2009 Nissan GTR which is about 400hp at the wheels and weighs 1740kgs which equals 229hp/ton.

Torque is similar for both at about 400ftlbs . Is it possible to take down a GTR? Not from a stand still drag race as the GTR has got to many smarts around the launch control but for a rolling drag race???

Factory kurb weights range from 1160kg for the low spec G to 1310kg for the GT and everything in between. Average weight is around 1270kg for most of them.

If it’s making a true 350hp to the wheels uncorrected, it should be good for high 11s and about 120mph trap speeds.

Also the MR2 can launch hard if you can drive. 1.7-1.8 60fts are possible on street tyres. I’ve done 1.9s on a single spinner ‘91 turbo with 205 wide street tyres.

Your average GTR driver, even with the launch control will probably only do 1.7.

Well its all good news. Took the car to the certifier and it was a relief that he had no issues with all the work. So the cert list will look like this,

Adjustable Coilovers
Big Brakes - Front
Wheels 17 x 7.5
V6 3VZFE conversion + Turbo
Aftermarket ECU + Methanol / Water injection

So the process is that the Certifier now needs a WOF checklist showing the car is all WOF compliant other than failing for no Certification for the modifications. Then he sends away for new Cert plate.

Good news is that it passed the WOF today other than the certification of the mods. Went back to Certifier gave him the paperwork he needed around the WOF, So just waiting now for the cert plate to arrive, put on car, back to the WOF station all done. Notify insurance of all mods with certificate. All sweet everything covered

Are you still able to help me out with pricing with Jareds work. That torque curve is very serious. Again changing my mind on supercharger or turbo
