Fair enough. I had to wait weeks also. But wondered if it was a bit more lax down there. Shame I can't make the run. Would be keen as to check this out!!

See how it goes the next couple of days, its still a 50 /50 chance to have it ready for the weekend. Depends if it comes together easy or like most things there's a few bumps that slow it down. Mechanically its just about finished, still a little to do on the electrics. That will be where things can go smoothly or we find a few gremlins that will slow us down.

The Green Hornet Fires into Life. Still a little to sort out. But should be on dyno on Friday for low boost run in tune.

Finally on the dyno tomorrow morning at 11am for base tune. I'll be there to check it all out and take some video.

See pic below of final engine layout. Still having one issue with the wastegate for the turbo not being large enough causing overboost. Working through the options to address, probably porting turbo larger. Bit late to install an external wastegate, but may do if needed.

Hopefully sorted this week???

Ive has same problem with overboost. Got better control when I installed a smaller actuator spring. Still not ideal as if I accelerate too quickly I can still overshoot 18psi especially when in 2nd gear. Got EBC set to very low and response around 20% which is a third of what I was running on ct20b.

See how I go. In hindsight I should have gone straight to an external wastegate and may still do so but its tricker now to install as I would have to remove the dizzy to get the space. I will do it if I really need to as the last option.

Re: Green Hornet - Up and Running

Post by chief1eye »

Yee Ha. Successful dyno

Base tune Limited to 250HP for running this new engine in. No Methanol /Water injection. Haven't put up the dyno graph but we did one run with the timing tweeked just a little it hit 280hp at 4500rpm.
Torque 300ft/lbs at 3000rpm!!!. All dyno runs limited to 5000rpm

Its gonna hit 400hp easy once we optimise timing and get meth/water injection turned on. On the road and driving. Even at this base tune so responsive, boosting at 2000rpm and full boost at 3000rpm. Very very happy !

The video doesn't do it justice. Sounds Glorious!

Green Hornet Final Performance tune this Saturday

Post by chief1eye »

Hi All

Those in or around the Tauranga area who are keen to see the final performance dyno run of the Green Hornet ( 3VZFE 3 Litre V6 Turbo) you are welcome to come up and see the action. This will be the Full Monty!, the engine has nearly 2000kms on it and its time to turn up the boost, advance the timing and throw some water/methanol injection for that little something extra.

Just drop me a PM for the details.

Video and photos would go down well . :D
Boosted cars are like hot women.
A little edgy, every guy wants one,
some guys can't handle them,
and if you throw a little alcohol in them they'll rock your world.
