Hi Thomas, I do not know whether this was just luck or what but the TX valve I used is a Denso unit, see below. I did not have to do anything other than just new O-Rings and everything fitted as they should have. All the port diameters matched the old unit that I replaced

Glad it worked. Your TXV is a different part number to mine (my original was 047500-1160, new is 047500-9072. Maybe yours is USDM to match the evaporator.

Thanks and interesting that. I bought the valve from Supercheap. The first one they supplied did not work as the ports were different in size, they swapped it over for this one

Bit of heads up on LVV certification.

I spoke to Danny McKenna who is one of the Engineers that does compliance checks on vehicles that require LVV certs. Danny runs his own company called Auto Certs Ltd and travels all over lower north island performing certification inspections.

I wanted to get some input from him in making sure that any suspension work that I was going to do including the engine/gearbox and mounting etc complied with the standard which will enable me to have a fully certified car on the road.

Danny offered to come and visit me at the house when he was going to be in Palmy which we managed to do yesterday, to check the progress on the car and I was very impressed with his offer of advice through the next stages of build process and also some watch outs for the work that I was going to be doing.

Guys, I recommend Danny to anyone that is looking at getting alert for their car. Danny's number is 027 240 1291 and I am sure you will enjoy having a chat with him.

He is a car enthusiast as well which helps as he understands the passion that drive us all :D :D :D

I picked up my fully rebuilt gearbox from Wellington Automotive Gearbox Specialists and throughout the process, Dave was an incredible help and Oli who I believe actually did the work on the rebuild, kept me updated on the cost of the parts (bearings etc.) which had to be ordered ex-Japan, the installation of the Quaife LSD and just the general progress. I recommend these guys to anyone who is looking for a bloody good Team that are open to listen to your plans and provide solutions. Thanks Dave and Oli.

This is the layout of the inside of the box, sorry no pictures but 2 images from the parts manual:

Marc (Frankenstein Motorworks) has done it again. Purchased the wiring loom for the electric accelerator pedal and also the drive axle bearing carrier housing. The pieces are a work of art like all of the parts that Marc makes and supplies

Great weather in Palmy today, found a bit of motivation to do a bit of work on the car, focusing on the wiper mechanism. The arm was a little bit rust, used a bit of emery paper to clean it up then spray painted it with zinc paint.

Some more parts arrived today.

From all accounts, the 2GR AC compressor does not seem to last in the MR2 setup and through a lot of research by individuals that have got AC in their SW20, they found that the AC Compressor from the 1GR (4litre V6)actually is the right size and also runs without issues in the MR2. This setup will require a custom setup for the hoses which I have ordered and hope to receive soon. A massive thanks to everyone that have done the research which helps us in the MR2 community

I also received the Hux Racing E153 Hybrid Gear Selector/Shifter, awesome kit

Two more boxed items arrived today.

One from Amayama containing all the parts to rebuild the 4 hubs with new parts. Do not even bother asking Toyota to give you a quote, I had to pick myself up off the floor when I got the pricing from them

Hubs and the rear cross member is being sandblasted and waiting for powder coating. Once that is completed then the assembly can start.

:D :D :D :D yeah unfortunately that was the killer. Anything out of the US is damn expensive. I will put up the charges from Alex Wilhelm when I get them, bit heavier as they were suspension parts. Both were still better than the YouShop pricing. Oneof the thing here is that the price includes all the GST and the documentation costs as well.

On the other hand very interestingly, Amayama seems to have a base in Auckland somewhere as the items were shipped from there. They get the parts in to Auckland then ship local.
