Great kit. Its the one that has also caught my eye. I really like how the guards flow into the side skirts. Did you purchase via the UK supplier?

Hi Ross, yeah I did mate. The supplier was awesome to deal with. I paid him through PayPal and the rest was history, he shipped (was packed very nicely in a big box) and there was no damage or anything. Funnily enough, it came through Customs without any duty, they must have been having an off day or something. If you check out my Post #4, the details of the supplier is included in it
When we were mocking up the kit on the car, it just looked wicked, really excited to see this installed and painted. I am going to go with Mazda Soul Red color on the car and de-chrome all the badges to matt black, have all the clear lens already that will get installed on the car as we go through the build process

TOMS REPLICA SCOOPS EX-MR2-BEN

Finally, got the High Level Air Intakes for both sides. Arrived in the country on 24 Nov, tracking the parcel was a nightmare as it was always down, but thankfully both the boxes arrived safely :D
Now we can continue doing the body build

Can't wait for the pictures of those on the car. Snorkels are something I've been so torn on.

Hi David, yeah I am looking forward to putting them on as well. It was a choice of either just one or both and since I like to have have a balance/bit of symmetry, I bought both sides.
Once they are on and painted etc., I will put up more pictures.
The service through the supplier - MR2-Ben has been great, see Post 4. The delays were due to the heavy volume of Christmas packages moving around the world, but all good that the parcels reached here without any damages.
I have used YouShop for all of my packages from UK and US. Marc (supplying me the bits for the 2GR install/exhaust etc.) has used FedEx to ship the parts over as he gets a good deal through them.
Advise from GDII on what I need to be aware of with the coolin and air flow has been of immense benefit as well which we will explore once we have the car on the road.

You and me both. If I were going with that look, I'd definitely get both sides no question. One just looks a bit...wonky.

You do realise that the Tom's snorkel scoops try and force air in the opposite direction from side vents and underbelly panels. LHS is only effective if it directly feed the intake through a 'cold box' set-up. Not sure what use the RHS can do apart from match other side.

Hi Jim, thanks for the information and yeah Phill has made similar comments about airflow around the engine bay as well. I will definitely be putting in an enclosed airbox so that the supercharger can get the coldest air that it can drag from its surroundings.
The second intake, this is where it gets a little bit tricky, There is plan aorund installing and intercooler on the supercharger and if we do go down this option, then we will make make shroud of some sort from under the intake to take air from the right side to the intercooler.
Options/possibilities/doubts/hmmm, LOL haven't made up my mid fully as to what the final will be.
I am sure the advise that I am getting from you guys will help the process and we will end up with a better final product.
I really appreciate your inputs Guys and I thank everyone for that and hope this continues as the build progresses.
I will share all of the information as we go through process and hopefully it becomes an easier process for fellow entusiasts as well.

That is encouraging with your plans to use top scoops for seperate cool air induction. To fair it's not an easy mod for mid engine cars. I've done things a little differently with cold air box and A2W IC with HE under boot. So if I can help just ask.

Hi Jim, thanks for the offer and I will keep that in mind. The main focus at the moment is to get the body prepped, all panels aligned, body kit installed then painting. We are doing this mostly in the weekends so yeah it will be a slow process but not in a hurry as I am neither in a race to get this done or need the car on the road for my daily use.
Once again thanks and we will cht again, regards

Hi Ross, agree they look really good. I can't wait to get them onto the car but have to be patient.
The sides ones are through MR2-Ben and the front corner ones (2piece each side) are through Auto Ware Store. I have updated all the details in Post #4. Just check pricing between Amazon, eBay and MR2-Ben. I did check pricing through some US suppliers but they were expensive when I was looking for the items.
I split the purchases to get the best price and got them sent over to our YouShop address in UK (both sets of lights were brought through outlets in UK) then had the shipping consolidated through YouShop (NZ Post) and shipped over.

MORE BODY KIT INSTALL PICTURES

Post by lasersooby »

Hi, bit of a progress report now that life has come back to a bit of normality. Still busy progressing with getting the body kit fitted with bits and pieces and the usual fitting, then taking off to adjust, then fit again, can be frustrating at times but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel now that the major work on the bonnet insert has been completed.
