Re: Supercharged 2GR SW20 Project
Another good weekend weather and managed to get a bit more done on the car.
I removed the better condition soundproofing (front firewall) from the donor car and cleaned it up and applied a bit of silicon before installing in the Project car Installed the Frunk/Bonnet Locking mechanism Cleaned up the pedal box as both had a bit of surface rust. Used the dissolver first then spray painted with silver protection. Will assemble the pedals separately. Roped my 15 year old daughter to help with the Brake Booster install Brake Pedal box installed Brake Booster bolted up Clutch pedal box in place (sitting loosely), first time ever for this car for a clutch system as this was originally an auto Sorting the Brake Master Cylinder and connecting to the ABS system Fan Blower now in place as well and ready for the AC system install

Re: Supercharged 2GR SW20 Project
Replace the plastic bit that the brake pedal switch contacts. They always break on a run and your brake lights will stay on draining your battery. They're like 1$ from Toyota. I just used a bolt though since I was in a pinch to get a wof.
This is looking really good though

Re: Supercharged 2GR SW20 Project
Got a few more things done, but only limited number of pictures as the others (mainly the AC system) I have to finish off and will upload pictures as a set once done.
The windscreen washer system is now in place & connected to the wiring system and once I install the bonnet, I should be able to hook everything up properly Mounted the AC Drier and the corresponding lines. Drier is on order and will be changed Thought I'd chuck the HSD Coilovers on the car as well. I have got them mounted loosely and will sort out the bits and pieces as I mount the rest of the suspension

Re: Supercharged 2GR SW20 Project
Hey mate, thanks for reminding me about the next 4 weeks. Unfortunately with the sites operating (fishing & processing regarded as essential services), i seem to be spending more time in meetings via Zoom than when I was going to work.
However, I am hoping today is the start of getting a few more things done during this period and I managed to get a couple of things done today.
First job was to finish off the fuel flap and mechanism plus the surrounding bits. Was stoked with the way the very dirty parts turned out after a bit of cleaning. My fog lamp reference computer was stuffed. It must have got partially submerged in water. I chased up a replacement part and got one from a guy in Pukekohe for $75.00. The main thing is that it works and I got that installed and connected up.

Re: Supercharged 2GR SW20 Project
Time to get the heating system under that dash cleaned up and sorted. It was filthy as and I wanted to make the heater coil was clean as for when the engine went in
I reckon I ended removing a few grams of dust after it got cleaned up. These pictures are only for the dismantling of the heating system, will upload the re-build possibly tomorrow.

Re: Supercharged 2GR SW20 Project
Been pretty busy work wise, not much got done on the car. Here is the re-assembly of the Heater Radiator Assembly.
Had to get the heater radiator re-cored as the original one was dirty and pretty blocked up as well. Replacement unit was made for me by Scott from ADRAD Radiators, 16 David Street, Palmerston North, telephone 06 357 4986. He is an absolute brilliant guy to deal with and the price was pretty good as well for the very quick turnaround on the last day of before the lockdown started, gave the old unit to him with a few other coolant pipes in the morning and he had everything ready by mid-afternoon. All the air deflectors were cleaned up and new rubber seal installed as the old foam had perished. Re-assembly of the unit and ready to go into the car

Re: Supercharged 2GR SW20 Project
thanks. I thought since everything is out,I might as well clean everything up. You will not believe the amount of dirt/crud that had built up over the 26 years (I bought the car with the blown engine and took it off the road at the end of 2015) that it was on the road.
Hopefully this cleaning up effort, lightens the car a little bit. I should have collected and weighed the crud
Hope everyone in the MR2 community and their families are taking car and staying safe during the lockdown and challenging time

Re: Supercharged 2GR SW20 Project
Disassembled the Cooler Assembly Unit as it did not look too good and sure enough found a few issues with oil leaks and the Evaporator basically filled up completely with oil.
1. Evaporator ex-US
2. Cooler expansion Valve
3. Drier
Not sure when these will arrive, but have heaps of other work to do
The Evaporator looks so so
Tried cleaning but the fins were getting damaged and with oil inside the unit, there was no point in persevering with it
Cooler Stabilizer Amplifier Assembly looks bad but should come out ok with a bit of cleaning
Have ordered the following parts:1. Evaporator ex-US
2. Cooler expansion Valve
3. Drier
Not sure when these will arrive, but have heaps of other work to do

Can you say 'Air Flow'?
Oh that terrible but I've seen a few cars like that before. Obviously the cabin filter will stop that now.

Re: Supercharged 2GR SW20 Project
Ok, another go at getting this done. Not sure what I did but all the write up and pictures, I lost it because I had a bit of a duh moment and closed the page.
Great day in Palmerston North, weather was incredible
The carpets for the car was pretty dusty and dirty, but a couple of hours of focus with the vacuum cleaner, brought the floor carpet to a reasonable standard. Have to have another go though with a carpet cleaner and shampoo but this will do for now Got the tow hooks cleaned and painted With the weather so good, decided to paint the Frunk area that had been modified to install the power steering system. Been putting this off for a while but had to do this some time to keep going with the re-build Taped up the area to protect overspray, did not have any paper so used a bit of spare/scrap bubblewrap I had sitting around Hayden from Automotive Paint & Panel Supplies - 16 Jasper Place Palmerston North, 06 929 4667, made up a can each of Etch Primer, My Scuderia Red and the Gloss First 3 coats of Etch Primer on, looks better already Two coats of Scuderia Red, looking good Finally with the Gloss applied, it looks good Cleaned up the Power Steering Reservoir unit then installed the reservoir, hoses and the Power Steering ECU Frunk coolant pipes cleaned up and ready for install Coolant pipes installed Cleaned up the Heater water valve assembly Silicon hoses (going with the blue theme) and SS T-Bolt clamps supplied by Stoney Racing UK Heater water valve assembly in place and hoses attached Cleaned and painted the LH Quarter Vent Duct Retainer and in place Working on a plan to make a shroud to mount the electric fans on to the radiator, will most likely have to wait to get the materials A good day to take a picture of the car
