Thanks mate, was really impressed with how straight the body was when we started to get it sorted for the primer. There were a couple of spots that had to be straightened out but overall it was a straight forward job. Sets it up nicely for when we apply the paint.
Catch up soon Shaun, regards

Finally received the diff for the for my EA6X gearbox. Dean from Palmside NZ sorted this out, they are the Quaife agents in NZ, bloody excellent guy and if you want Quaife parts, I highly recommend him.
Next step, off to WAGS to see Dave about pulling this apart and getting the diff installed and modifying the bell housing to mount the starter housing.

Getting there slowly with the body preparation, but not long to go before the paint goes on it. Washing the whole thing out was a challenge due to all the sanding etc. but Danny has done and amazing in getting it sorted.

Thanks mate. It is actually getting a lot more exciting now. In the past, it has been like oh yeah it is coming along etc etc., but now just seeing the colour on the inside of the car after the primer, it makes it a whole lot more exciting. I am waiting to see how the outside will look once Danny has a couple of coats of paint on it. He knows what I am looking for and has a plan to achieve it :D

ARP FLYWHEEL FASTNERS FOR FIDANZA FLYWHEEL & FIXING REAR BUMPER FOAM

Received the ARP Flywheel Bolts for the build through NZ Performance, awesome to deal with.
2019Sep07-ARP Flywheel Bolts.jpg
Getting bits for the rear bumper sorted as well. Danny wants to have the bumper bolted in place before he paints the outside as the rears are flexing a bit due to the heavy rear spats that have been moulded to the bumper cover. The foam piece is broken, have cleaned it up and will get it glued tonight before I drop it off to him. Having trouble getting the body clips that go with the re-assembling, let down by a supplier badly but hoping we will have something next week.

Danny has done an amazing job of finishing off the painting in the wheel well. The plan was also to mount the rear bumper then paint it in place, bit of progress on that end as well and the fitting/alignment is spot on, very happy with the job so far

Looking very nice. Having gone through a recent paint job myself I can appreciate the work your putting into it.

Thanks Jim, it is a slow process but this is also helping to make sure that we do it right. We will be getting the black coating under the body soon and also into the wheel arches.
The rear bumper cover actually twists a bit because of the side spats from the body kit hence we decided to get the bumper mounted then finishing off the painting. The twisty flimsy nature of the bumper would have cracked the paint

EA60 BELLHOUSING & S54 STARTER HUB READY FOR SHIPPING TO PAUL WOODS UK

The mods for the EA gearbox is progressing. Spoke to Paul Woods from Woodsport UK and he is willing to make the mods to the bellhousing so that a starter hub can be welded to it to allow the starter to sit over the gearbox.
I want to thank C'jay (Levin) for selling me the S54 bellhousing that I removed the starter hub from to send with the EA bellhousing.

Surprised you couldn't get someone in NZ to do the work. Imagine it would cost a Kings ransom to send over and then back again.

Incidently if you need any other S54 parts I have one from a work mate who is going to chuck in the bin. It has internal issues but the exterior looks fine. Driving to Manfeild next week for MR2NZ event.

Hi Jim,
I definitely would have used someone from with NZ mate, but the problem was that there was drama all the way from the time I started discussions with Engineering Shops within Palmerston North and with a few others in the Lower North Island. Quotes for the job were as low as $200 to as high as $1,800.
Almost everyone wanted a complete set of working drawings which I was able to supply, but the problem was that if anything went wrong, the approach was a your problem and not theirs.
Making a jig up to get the starter hub welded in the right place was an additional cost. That became a mission in itself and after speaking to Phil from PN Engineering, he suggested that the best option would be to get it done from someone that had done it before which meant sending it overseas. I would recommend Phil to anyone that wants things done, he is very helpful and great to deal with, very straight with options
The cost of shipping the package over by courier to Woodsport UK was NZ$273.00 and took 6 days to get there. I had marked the description as "Parts for repair" when I shipped them so that Paul did not end up having to pay import duties etc in UK and it worked.
Paul's cost for this work is about GBP 200.00, the total package weight is about 13kgs.
I am also getting the speedo drive ring gear to go over the diff from him, waiting for a price on that and a mod on the speed sensor port on the bellhousing.
The EA boxes do not have a speed drive gear on the diff and the sensor on the box as they pick up the speed reading from the ABS rings at the hubs.
A bit of mucking about but the job will get done by someone who has done this before lots of times.
Between Paul - UK and Marc (Gouky) - US, they are the real Gurus of the V6 swaps and have a wealth of information/knowledge and very open to helping out others from their own learnings. Once again, I would recommend them to anyone that is thing of doing a V6 or even the 2AR swap into MR2s
Thanks for the offer of the S54 box. Unfortunately I only needed the starter hub and C'jay supplied me with a complete bellhousing off an S54 that he had and I butchered that for my needs :D
Enjoy the MR2NZ event mate, hopefully when my one is back on the road, I will look forward to joining you guys
Take care, have a safe journey
