BODY PREP FOR PAINTING ETC

It has been a while since I provided any updates. A lot has happened, have heaps of parts old and new from all over the world. Just finished ordering the last bits and once the car is back, I can start putting it back together.
I caught up with the Panelbeater/Painter mate today and thankfully, he has managed to block it to a state where he believes he will have the primer on it next week. The progress pictures are below, heaps better than where it was when he received it.
We have sorted out the paint color, bit of change from my previous selection which was the Mazda Soul Red. We will instead paint it the same as the 2018 Ferrari F1 Liquid Red

You can cut out half of those concentric plastic rings on the fans to increase airflow too. If you measure them, you'll find that the available free space reduces by about 30% from the overall outside diameter.

SPARE BELLHOUSING FOR EA60 BOX & FIDANZA FLYWHEEL

by lasersooby
Managed to finally get a spare bell housing for the EA61 gearbox which I can now start using to sort out the mating face on the engine. Will be using this also to sort out the starter mount and work out the distances between the starter and the flywheel
Have to make up a cradle to get all the angles right on the engine and gearbox etc which will be fun since I am not using the E153 or S54 gearbox

MOCKING UP EA60 GEARBOX MOUNTING TO 2GR

Started to get the bellhousing mated to the engine and decided it was going to be easier if I got a template made of the bellhousing face. Ended up being the right decision and it has come through nicely. Have more than enough (at least 8) holes aligned. Using the NA engine to do all the work, easier to move and not having to worry about damaging anything

AMAYAMA PARTS FOR PROJECT

New delivery today from Amayama Japan. Their prices were a shade more expensive than Carmarka but corresponding with Carmarka was blinking frustrating. Very happy with the very quick response though and I would recommend Amayama to everyone as well

Small stuff, getting the wing mirrors and adapters sorted for painting tomorrow. Fake carbon fiber does not look good but got it for normal type price so no stress and color matching the mirrors and the mounting plates will be good

PROJECT CAR BODY WITH PRIMER

Posted: Thu Feb 07, 2019 8:59 pm
by lasersooby
Very productive day (at least with applying primer to the body) yesterday even though the weather was not so good, but an early start to Waitangi Day was very positive as we had to be in Napier later in the evening for Phil Collins concert. We did not manage to get everything done, i.e. the bonnet and few other pieces are not primed yet but planning to have them done this weekend

Thanks mate, it has been a long time in the making and the whole thing has tested my patience at times. We will have the rest of the parts primed tomorrow. I will put up some more pictures of the other parts especially the bonnet, rear bumper and snorkels etc tomorrow :D . It is definitely getting a lot more exciting now
