1mz-fe compound charged
Felt like finally doing a write up on my build
Taken place over the last year decided the 3sgte was a bit slower than I wanted so I built up a 1mz.
Started complete strip down expecting the worst very little sludge was found thankfully. Fitted pauter rods, wisco pistons (8.5 compression), full set of king bearings, mls head gaskets, arp head studs, new valves with 3 angle cut and removed a thin part of the head. Then went ahead and brought the turbo little effort involved in calculating exhaust volume. Turbo arrived and looked a lot bigger than the picture (masterpower 595-4) so wanted a little help in the lower rpm to help it get up and go. So got a eaton m90. Great joy in making that fit. Running 550cc injectors near on their limit with a aem320 pump. Currently running a ms3 pro ecu and 20psi with just a touch of water meth making 510hp and 607nm at the wheels.

Re: 1mz-fe compound charged
Would be curious for some pics.
I'm planning on getting forced induction on my 3VZ.
Thinking a Eaton M90 would suffice for that power level and have decent boost response. What would you do second time around?

If I wasn't so fresh and knew how to post pics I would.
M90s good but only makes around 4psi. That's about all you'd want stock though.
Fit a new slave cylinder when it was all out

Re: 1mz-fe compound charged
Very nice build, don't see many compound charged engines around! Very interested my goals are similar for the built 2GR.
What PSI are you running the injectors at? For 550hp atw on pump gas we estimated I need 650cc injectors on the 2GR. The 540cc injectors through Gouky can be pushed to 80psi reliably giving 740cc
So injectors running at 650cc I'll need 63psi across the injector, or if static fuel pressure 73psi (for every psi of boost then a psi and a bit of fuel pressure) to make up for the boost.
What ECU are you running?

Re: 1mz-fe compound charged
Oh don't really notice it in 1st and 2nd gears are to short for boost to load. But then it just keeps pulling like your still in 2nd. As for fuel pressure I can't remember sadly in Fiji for a week so can't check. Was on a rising rate 1:1 at around 55psi. Those aem pumps are wicked direct fit

Re: 1mz-fe compound charged
Rising rate 1:1 is just marketing BS. Most modern turbocharged fuel regulators are rising rate 1:1 anyway (without pressure adjustment), only N/A engines don't need a "rising rate 1:1" regulator because they don't go into boost.Sw20twincharge wrote:Was on a rising rate 1:1 at around 55psi.
That is a very cool engine setup. I've had ideas for doing twincharging but I don't like how cramped the engine bay becomes and the lack of accessibility is what stops me from doing it.

Wouldn't want to run that set-up in any place which rains. It would be a bit difficult to shelter the electronics from getting soaked.

Does that fit under the factory engine lid with the rain guard taken off?

Not a chance. This is like one if those V8 things with a bug catcher or snorkel thing.Gleshlich wrote:Does that fit under the factory engine lid with the rain guard taken off?
Very interesting build. Twin charging is less common due to complexity and turbo technology these days means you don't really get gains from it. But good to see something different and putting down very good power.

Re: 1mz-fe compound charged
Oh no chance of fitting under the old cover could cut in half use the back half. No chance on the front. Looking at getting one of the ask sport ones. Or eventually making a carbon fibre one.
Yeah compound charging wasn't the first plan but saw the turbo and hate lag. M90 popped up cheap enough so decided that was the plan
